Albert Lopo will continue two more years at Deportivo. The news was revealed first in several newspapers and was confirmed later by the player himself. The Catalan was a starter in the last part of the season 2013/14.

Deportivo have completed the first movement in the market after ending the Segunda season 2013/14. It’s the two-year renewal of Albert Lopo, who will remain at the club until 2016. The Catalan centre-back returned to Depor during the winter window signing a six-month contract; he became a normal starter for Fernando Vázquez within the last three months and the club labeled his continuity as a priority ahead of the next Primera season.

The negotiations only lasted a couple of weeks and since Wednesday newspapers Deporte Campeón and La Voz de Galicia were announcing that the deal was already sealed, but it was until Friday that the news became official after the player himself wrote it on his Instagram account. Later the club made it official.

The message from the player was: ”In life you make wrong decisions and commit many mistakes; in my personal situation there’s no room to commit the same error for a second time. Thank you all for trusting in me since my return and also to the ones that didn’t do it, because it made me stronger. It’s a great joy to be able to continue for two more years in this great family. Forza Depor.”

Before leaving the club, Lopo played 164 official games with Deportivo (151 in Primera División and 13 in Copa Del Rey) within the years 2006 and 2011. He spent two years at Getafe CF before returning to A Coruña.
