Deportivo completed the signings of Postiga, Juanfran Moreno and Sidnei in the last day of the summer transfer window. The club expects to sign a fourth centre back today.

Intense transfer deadline day at Deportivo with the club completing three signings in a matter of five hours. Striker Hélder Postiga (32) was the first that closed his arrival to Depor and then, within the last hour in the window, the club closed the arrivals of winger/full-back Juan Francisco ‘Juanfran’ Moreno (25) and centre-back Sidnei Rechel da Silva (25)

The highly expected striker that joins Deportivo is Hélder Postiga. After all the failed attempts to get a “well-known attacker”, Depor decided to sign this 32-year-old striker, who just minutes before accepting Depor’s offer was rescinding his contract with Valencia CF (lasting until 2016).

Deportivo reported that Postiga is signing a one year deal, though it was also commented that the deal includes an option for an additional season.  The issue should be clarified on Tuesday. This veteran attacker knows La Liga pretty well after playing 98 Primera matches scoring 26 goals.  The big question with Hélder is his fitness, in January he was loaned to SS Lazio and only made 5 appearances in Calcio due to a groin injury.

The second signing of the day (officially announced at 11PM) was right-back/right winger Juanfran Moreno. It was a rumor that came out early in the day in Andalusia and that was completed throughout the day. It’s a very curious case, because the player was going to be transferred from Real Betis to Watford FC in the Championship, but there was no time to inscribe the player in England, so it was decided to loan him out to Deportivo.

Real Betis informed that’s a one season-long deal and that in June of 2015 the player will join Watford FC. Juanfran is a right winger that was reconverted into a right-back on last season. The reason for this signing is that Víctor Fernández wasn’t happy with the current right-backs at the team despite Depor already had three men for this job.

A few minutes after announcing the signing of Juanfran, the club confirmed that it had reached an agreement with SL Benfica for Sidnei Rechel (25). The Brazilian played on loan at RCD Espanyol and is coming in a one season-long loan. The deal was confirmed until minutes before the closure of the summer window as the defender and his club had some pending issues regarding some unpaid wages.

Depor tried to close a fourth signing on the day, which was a fourth centre-back, but it wasn’t possible. However president Tino Fernández told to reports at the club’s headquarters that Deportivo will complete the move as the target is a free agent and there’s no deadline to sign free agents. He also said that the name should be released in the coming hours.

About the exits, the club tried to close the departures of right-back Diego Seoane and playmaker Juan Carlos Real, but both refused to leave on loan deals, so they are staying though probably without having too many minutes. Until the club announces the name of the fourth centre back, the first team of Depor is composed by these 24 men:

Goalkeepers: Lux & Fabricio
Defenders: Manuel Pablo, Laure, Seoane, Juanfran Moreno, Insua, Lopo, Sidnei, Luisinho & Canella
Midfielders: Álex Bergantiños, Juan Dominguez, Wilk, José Rodriguez, Medunjanin, Lucas Pérez, Cuenca, Salomão, Fariña & Juan Carlos
Strikers: Toché, Cavaleiro & Postiga
