DEPORTIVO IN SEPTEMBER

05 Sep 2014
Four league matches are waiting for Deportivo in the month of September, two of them are among the biggest meetings on the season: the home match against Real Madrid and the Galician derby to be played at Balaidos.

Deportivo will play four league games in September; it’s the normal number that can be played in any month of the league competition. What happens is that these four games are going to be played in a frame of thirteen days. The reason is the international break that’s taking place this weekend.

The Galicians travel to Ipurúa in one and a half week, this in order to face SD Eibar, the last champion at Segunda. The Basques had started in a positive way after a meritorious win over Real Sociedad and later only losing by one goal visiting Atlético Madrid. On this week Eibar played a friendly against AD Alcorcón, which allowed them to present their latest acquisition: ex-Sporting striker Dejan Lekić, who scored one of the goals.

And then the most complicate part in the month arrives, because Depor will play three times in a matter of eight days; besides two of those meetings are among the biggest games on the season, starting with the visit of Real Madrid to the Riazor. The Madrilenians have been under fire after dropping a two-goal lead to end losing 2-4 at Real Sociedad. It’s uncertain if Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit to play as he continues to drag muscle problems.

Only three days later Deportivo visit Balaídos for the Galician derby against RC Celta. Los Celestes are completing a solid start of season adding four points in two games. They already beat Depor on the pre-season, though they have been unable to defeat Los Blanquiazules within the last four official meetings between these clubs.

September ends with the home clash against UD Almeria; the Andalusians represent a similar case to Depor as they have a new squad that’s still trying to adapt (they made ten signings). Also, UD Almeria have been criticized for its lack of goals; after all they have completed 30 shots on target so far (mark only improved in la liga by Real Madrid, Barça & Real Sociedad), but only scored once within the first two matchdays.
