Two of the last reinforcements to join the club, Sidnei and Juanfran, are among the players with more minutes at the team. One has found a stable place at the centre of the defense and the other has been moving across the right side.

Deportivo made four signings on deadline day and two of those players are now fixed starters for coach Víctor Fernández. And it’s that both men have played as starters in all the games since landing at the club before matchday 03.

The first player is Sidnei Rechel. The Brazilian has seized the latest injury problems of Insua and the lack of form by Lopo and he’s now the first centre-back of Deportivo; actually he’s the only field player that has disputed all the possible minutes since been available for the coach (matchday 03).

Despite the defensive sector failed to impress at the beginning of the season the team has improved a lot lately clinching three clean sheets within the last four games. In this sense Sidnei has been the leader in many departments, from been the player with more clearances per game (6) to be the men with more interceptions per match (3). An interesting stat is that he’s the 7th player with the better passing ratio at the team (77.3%)

The other “last-minute signing” having an impact at the team is Juanfran Moreno, he was signed as a versatile player that can either perform as a right winger or as a right-back. The Madrilenian man started performing as a winger, role that he played in his first three games at the club.

Since the game against Valencia CF, and despite been described as a poor defender, he was moved back to the right-back position and has played there for four straight matches. Curiously the team clinched three clean sheets on those meetings and against Los Chés he contributed with one assist.

The true is that Juanfran has been criticized for the lack of accuracy in his passes and crosses; actually he’s the second field player with the worst passing ratio at the team (66.7%). Strengths and weaknesses apart, the coach trusts them and will probably continue to do so.
