Direct meeting between two clubs fighting to survive in la liga. Deportivo will miss Lucas and Fariña, while Levante’s coach is upset for been forced to play two games in a matter of four days.

Short week for Deportivo as, after playing on last Saturday, the team has now to face the next game on Friday visiting Levante UD (Estadi Ciutat de València, 20h45 CET). It’s a direct meeting between two teams that are separated by one point and that are at the edge of relegation.

Coach Víctor Fernández is again having a 25-men squad with the arrival of Oriol Riera. The Catalan striker landed during the weekend in A Coruña and is training since Monday. He’s fit to play and available for Friday.

There are two confirmed casualties for the game: winger Lucas Pérez and playmaker Luis Fariña. The Galician remains sidelined, though on Monday he was training apart at the pitch of Abegondo, which means an advance after been working at the gym for a while. A report from La Voz de Galicia says that the doctors expect that he could be back for the visit to Rayo Vallecano (February 1st)

In the case of the Argentine playmaker, he was early replaced in the game against Athletic Club and the scans revealed a grade one hamstring strain. The recovery process depends on the individual and how quickly he can heal, but the player could be out for at least two weeks.

Centre-back Sidnei Rechel is returning after his suspension. He joined the trainings on Friday after having more free days. Winger Isaac Cuenca (toe) and striker Hélder Postiga (back) were dragging knocks from Saturday’s game, meeting in which they were substitutes. The first is already recovered and joined the trainings on Tuesday.

In the case of the Portuguese attacker he remained off, but hasn’t been ruled out for Friday’s game. On Tuesday, centre-back Albert Lopo didn’t end the session due to a muscle problem, but he should be available to face Levante UD. Diogo Salomão was rested on Tuesday due to an Achilles problem that will be assessed on Wednesday.

On Monday the coaching staff prepared a training match between the substitutes and the players that didn’t take part of the game against Athletic Club and the lads from Fabril and Juvenil A. Among them was Francis Massampu, the winter reinforcement for Depor B.

If the week is short for Depor then it’s even shorter for Levante UD. The Valencian team played last Saturday against Atlético Madrid, then played again on Tuesday for Copa Del Rey facing Malaga CF and will only rest four days before the meeting with Depor. Coach Lucas Alcaraz complaining of the situation.

Levante UD are more concern of the position at the standings after only adding three of the last fifteen points in dispute, for this reason the coach rested seven of the normal starters in Copa: Iván López, Barral, Morales, Nikos, Casadesús, Ivanschitz and Simao.

At least Alcaraz is not facing casualties due to injury reasons as his 25-men squad is healthy, right winger Rubén García was ill during the weekend and skipped the game against Atlético Madrid, but he’s already fine.

But there will be a casualty for the game as centre midfielder Papakouly Diop is suspended with five yellow cards. Taking advantage of the situation the Senegalese already joined his national team ahead of the African Cup. At the same time centre-back David Navarro is available after been suspended against Atlético Madrid.

Despite having a large squad, the Valencian team is thinking of making signings, actually they were one of the clubs pushing for striker Oriol Riera. The other position that they want to reinforce is midfield. They have been linked with ex-Zaragoza Jose Mari and also with Chilean< b>Francisco Silva, but they won’t sign anyone before facing Depor.
