The media in A Coruña reports an increase of €800,000 in the salary cap of Deportivo. This has allowed the arrival of Oriol Riera and will also allow the arrival of one or two more reinforcements during the winter window.

At the end of the summer transfer window, president Tino Fernández confirmed that the salary cap of Deportivo was €15.3 million and that the team had almost reached the limit. During the presentation of Hélder Postiga and Juanfran Moreno the president said that, ”We spent €14.6 million with the squad, so there are some pennies that still available. Anyway the limit can be improved. As example we can sign a sponsorship for €900,000 and later can sign a player for €900,000. Possibly we can end up making one more signing in December.”

Now, newspaper La Opinión A Coruña reports that the LFP have increased the salary cap of Deportivo in €800,000 [the limit is now €16.1 million] after accepting the additional incomes generated with the new sponsors and new season subscribers [it passed the frontier of 24,000 socios in December].

The increase in the salary cap explains the signing of Catalan striker Oriol Riera, who debuted last Friday with Deportivo at the Ciutat de Valencia. Instead of only signing one reinforcement the club is open to hire up to three new players.

But before making signings the club must allow the exit of one or two players, because the 25 spots are currently covered. The club will open the doors to Juan Carlos and Diego Seoane, though for now there are no offers for them.

The club is also expecting to define the status of Lucas Pérez, who still dragging a knee injury that could force him to have a surgery. The final decision will be made this week and if he is operated, then he would be off for two or three months, meaning that the club will use his spot in order to sign a new reinforcement.

The media in A Coruña understands that Deportivo are focused in signing a centre midfielder and if it’s possible a fourth centre-back. But it’s possible that instead of the centre-back the club could try to hire a new winger in case that Lucas Pérez is operated.
