Deportivo have announced the signing of Cani. The playmaker/winger arrives to A Coruña after rescinding his contract with Villarreal CF. The Aragonian player is the eight signing ahead of the season 2015/16.

On Thursday Deportivo confirmed the signing of Rubén Gracia Calmache ‘Cani’. The 33-year-old player rescinded his contract with Villarreal CF and accepted the proposition from Depor. The club informed that he was arriving to A Coruña during the night and will undergo the medicals on Friday.

There’s no information about the details in the contract but the media reported that he’s signing a one-year-deal. Cani made his career at Real Zaragoza and later moved to Villarreal CF, club where he was able to play in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.

He wasn’t part of Marcelino’s plans since last season, so he was loaned to Atlético Madrid, club where he only played six games in six months. Now he lands at Deportivo and still to be seen the role that Víctor Sánchez will give to him, because in Villarreal he often played on the right wing and can also perform as a playmaker.

Deportivo have now made nine signings ahead of the season 2015/16, before the Galician club made other seven incorporations: left-backs Saúl García and Fernando Navarro, right-back Juanfran Moreno, centre-backs Alejandro Arribas and Sidnei, playmaker Luis Alberto and striker Oriol Riera. The club also completed the renewals of centre midfielder Juan Dominguez and right-back Manuel Pablo.
