For the second straight year striker Luis Fernández will play loaned in a Segunda club; this time he goes to SD Huesca, a recently promoted club to Liga Adelante.

Deportivo confirmed on Friday that striker Luis Fernández is going to play loaned at SD Huesca. The Aragonian club recently clinched the promotion back to Segunda A and need reinforcements for the new campaign.

Luis wasn’t entering into the plans of Víctor Sánchez though he only has Oriol Riera as the lonely forward at the first team. At the beginning it was commented that the 21-year attacker was going to rescind his contract (lasting until 2017), this in order to accept offers from foreign leagues, but in the end the club and the player chose this option.

The Burela-born striker played loaned at CD Lugo during last season and left a positive impression.
He only played in 25 of the 42 matches on the season, which was the negative part, but it was for the injuries and not for the lack of confidence from coach Quique Setién.

The striker lasted in getting the pace at CD Lugo after spending scoreless his first seven games with the team, but then he scored three goals in four matches (Zaragoza, Llagostera and Mallorca), but unfortunately he suffered a knee sprain that kept him at bay for a month. He returned at the end of 2014, but by then Pablo Caballero was already the undisputed starter.

So, he spent the next seven games entering as a substitute, but his new role wasn’t an obstacle for him as he was able to score three goals within those seven games, all of them gave the victory to Lugo (Recreativo, Barcelona B & Llagostera). Unfortunately a new injury, this time an ankle sprain, sidelined him for a couple of months and the player lost the pace. Luis ended the season playing in six of the last ten games on the Segunda season without scoring more goals.
