REVIEW: MUGARDOS 0 – DEPOR 4 (FRIENDLY)

13 Aug 2015
Depor closed the pre-season with a comfortable win, the debut of Lucas and also with the injury of Fabricio. The game had two different parts, the best was the second half with both sides having chances to score.

Coach Víctor Sánchez was facing the last game in the pre-season and chose to play with a 4-4-2 formation. German Lux was the goalkeeper, Juanfran Moreno covered the right-back position, Saúl García covered the left, while the centre backs were Albert Lopo and Sidnei Rechel.

Álex Bergantiños and Haris Medunjanin were the centre midfielders, Fede Cartabia attacked from the right wing, Cani did it from the left, Fayçal Fajr was the playmaker and Miguel Cardoso was the improvised centre forward.

The rival was SDC Galicia de Mugardos, a recently promoted club to Tercera División; curiously Depor inaugurated this pitch (A Pedreira) in 1972 facing Racing de Ferrol. Another curious thing about this club is that it is coached by two brothers, Juan Veiga and José Veiga.

The game had two very different halves, in the first there wasn’t too many action, the ball was exchanged by the sides and both teams barely created any harm. At Deportivo the best came with Fayçal Fajr, who looked pretty comfortable on the playmaking function.

Precisely it was him who scored the first goal in the game after collecting a pass from Sidnei, later the Moroccan man scored with a lot shot past local goalie Iñaki Paz. That was the best play in a first half that turned to be boring

For the second half Fabricio, Laure and Juan Domínguez entered since the kick-off and the game turned to be more exciting, with both sides having chances to score, mainly Deportivo. In this half the best player was Cani, who turned to be a reference up front.

The second goal just lasted five minutes to arrive. Cardoso got the ball at the edge of the area and he assisted Cani, who scored with a low shot. The third goal arrived soon, Cartabia took a corner-kick, Juan Dominguez connected the ball inside the box, it was deflected by Iñaki and Sidnei just had to push the loose ball in.

Then Fabricio got injured, the Canarian goalie jumped for a ball and in the landing he suffered a knock on the right knee. He tried to continue but was feeling issues and the coach preferred to replace him with Lux, who returned to the game after leaving at half-time (after the game the Canarian told to reporters that he was fine).

Luisinho, Navarro, Arribas, Mosquera and Lucas entered for the last 25 minutes, the latter was making his debut after his signing was announced on the same day.  Despite the score was already 0-3. Both sides continued pushing and there were offensive plays in the final twenty minutes than in the entire first part.

At minute 72, Lucas assisted Luis Alberto, but his shot went over the crossbar. Two minutes later Dani Ramos was close to score for Mugardos, but Mosquera blocked his shot. The fourth goal arrived five minutes before the end, Navarro released a cross from the left and Luisinho connected the ball inside the area to cross the keeper. Mugardos had a final chance to score a goal, but Lux made a brilliant save in a one-on-one action before striker Alejandro Permuy.

The game is ending the pre-season matches for Deportivo. Now the team of Víctor Sánchez will have one and a half week before the debut I liga facing Real Sociedad (Riazor, August 22, 18h30 CET).
