It should be considered a positive week for Depor, because coach Víctor Sánchez is recovering five of the eight players that were injured. Rayo Vallecano will arrive to the game without Zé Castro and Tito.

It has been an unusual and long week for Deportivo after the break, because the next game takes place until Monday visiting Rayo Vallecano (estadio de Vallecas, 20h30 CET). Coach Víctor Sánchez even gave for free Thursday to the players, something unusual when the competition is on, but understandable as many players were dragging injuries.

Last week ended with eight men sidelined for physical problems while other three were in international action. The three international players returned without major problems, though Celso Borges picked a knock and was training apart on Friday (it was for precaution). Meanwhile Haris Medunjanin joined the group on Wednesday and Jonathan Rodriguez did it on Friday.

About the injured men, five players are already working with the team: playmaker Fede Cartabia (adductor), striker Oriol Riera (hamstring), attacker Luis Alberto (ankle sprain), plus full-backs Luisinho (ankle) and Juanfran Moreno (ankle sprain), while playmaker Fayçal Fajr, who was rested during the week, was training without problems on Friday.

Riera and Luis Alberto are training with the group, but haven’t received the medical okay to play. Their participation in Monday’s game isn’t certain, but what’s already known is that the other three injured players will skip the match: goalkeeper Fabricio (knee), right-back Manuel Pablo (hamstring) and playmaker Cani (muscle). These three men are evolving and should join the group in the coming days, including Manuel Pablo, who missed the full pre-season.

Winger Jonás Gutiérrez trained during last weekend at Abegondo and joined the group on Monday. The Argentine seemed fine despite signing for Depor until last week, but he’s available and could be picked for Monday’s game.

At Rayo Vallecano, the team coached by Paco Jeméz didn’t have a good start in la liga after been one of the seven Primera clubs that haven’t scored a goal. Two players won’t be able to face Deportivo: right-back Tito and centre-back Zé Castro (both hamstring).

Meanwhile, four players have been in international action: defender Zhang Chengdong (China), right-back Razvan Rat (Romania), striker Miku (Venezuela) and winger Lass Bangoura (Guinea). Zhank and Miku joined the group until Thursday, while Miku and Lass did it on Wednesday.

Rayo were pretty active in the last days of the transfer window; they first signed striker Álvaro Vadillo from Real Betis, and on deadline day they signed striker Javi Guerra plus winger Pablo Hernández. The trio is available for the coach for the clash against Deportivo.

Finally, centre-back Antonio Amaya was on the spotlight during the week after been arrested for driving a Porsche at 234 km per hour. He was fined €20,000 and lost the driving license for one year. He has only played 65 minutes on this league season.
