Soft week for Deportivo, the international break is bringing some rest to the players one week before the Galician derby. Víctor is still facing problems with the injuries, on this week seven men missed at least one session for this reason.

Calm before the derby at Deportivo. The international break reduced the pace at the training camp, with the squad only completing four training sessions plus a friendly match in Portugal. Three men are in international duty: Celso Borges (Costa Rica), Haris Medunjanin (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Fayçal Fajr (Morocco).

The coaching staff also reduced the intensity of the training sessions, on Tuesday the squad was divided in two groups –defence and offense- and one day later there was a training match against Deportivo B. Since there wasn’t enough players to make two teams, in the end some players from Fabril ended performing for the first team, in this way one of the goal for their 2-0 win was scored by Colombian Juan Otero (the other goal was scored by Jonathan Rodriguez).

The picture was repeated all week long, with Fabril’s players like Otero and Iago López training with the first team in order to fill the gaps caused by the players on international duty plus the men that were out injured; actually five lads were picked for the friendly game with Paços de Ferreira: goalkeeper Anxo Pérez, centre-back Róber, playmaker Hugo Rama, centre midfielder Santi Taboada and striker Juan Otero.

The last training on the week took place on Friday, and it was a short session as it only lasted one hour, this for the friendly with Paços de Ferreira. The team only worked the set-pieces. The coach is giving a free weekend to the players and they will return to the training pitch until Monday.

After playing against Levante UD with eight casualties due to injury reasons –the highest number on this season- coach Víctor Sánchez continued to witness novelties in this regard. On this week seven men missed at least one session, while three were out with their national teams. The fact of having ten men out forced the coach to pick players from Fabril in order to fill up the gaps.

The good news is that three men have returned. Jonathan Rodriguez (illness), Luisinho (hamstring) and Manuel Pablo (Soleus) rejoined the group, with the latter receiving the medical okay to play for the first time on the season.

Luis Alberto (groin) is set to return. He was allowed to travel to Liverpool and, according to Lucas Pérez, he is fine and ready to rejoin the group on next week. In the cases of Manu (adductor), Lopo (Soleus) and Fabricio Agosto (knee), the three of them remained sidelined on this week, with the novelty that Fabricio is expected to be cleared to play on next week.

Three important players in the lineups of the coach skipped some training sessions on this week: Lucas Pérez (knee concussion), Fede Cartabia (back pain) and Pedro Mosquera (hamstring). Mosquera was fine by the end of the week, while Lucas only completed part of Friday’s session, the doctors expect that he could be recovered on Monday. In the case of Cartabia, he’s doubtful for the derby after been feeling a lot of pain (back).
