Deportivo will face Segunda club CD Mirandés in the last-16 round of Copa Del Rey; the first-leg will be played on January 6, one week later the returning game will be disputed at the Riazor.

The draw for the last-16 round in Copa Del Rey was made on Friday in Madrid. Deportivo will face CD Mirandés in this stage.  Since the rival is from a lower league, the first-leg will be played on the road. This match will be disputed on January 6 in Anduva, on January 13 the returning leg will be disputed at the Riazor.

Since this season each stage has its own draw, the intention of the RFEF is to increase the excitement and expectation among the fans. The next draw, for the quarterfinals, will be made on January 15, one day after the last-16 round ends.

CD Mirandés is currently 11th at the standings at Liga Adelante, despite losing two of the last three liga meetings they are only two points below the promotion zone and are coming after eliminating Málaga CF in the previous round in Copa.

This is the first meeting with CD Mirandés playing for Copa Del Rey. Coach Víctor Sánchez talked of the rival during Friday, , “No matter the rival in Copa I believe all the teams have plenty of hope in a pretty competition like Copa Del Rey, so you have to respect all the rivals no matter the league where they are playing and their run in the league. We must respect all the rivals as everybody wants to have a good run in the competition, surely they will bring problems as it happened before with Llagostera.”
