Víctor has a full squad available for the trip to Asturias, Fabricio is the only casualty after Borges received the medical okay to play. Sporting also have a full squad available with long-term injury case Abelardo been the only player out.

Short week for Deportivo as the visit to Sporting Gijón (Saturday, El Molinón, 22h05 CET) is taking place only five days after the home game with Rayo Vallecano. The coaching staff decided to give some rest to the players and the training sessions were lighter, at least on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of the men were rested for the training matches and lads from Depor B like Ben Fisk, Juan Otero, Álex Corredera, Lucas Viña and Santi Taboada were called in.

Coach Víctor Sánchez is getting positive news as Celso Borges is finally available. The Central American midfielder suffered a toe fracture back in November and his return was expected for the end of the month, but on Monday the club announced that he already had the medical okay after joining the trainings on last week.

Still, it isn’t certain if he will be picked for Saturday’s game; the most probable thing is that Víctor will wait for a couple of weeks as Borges is lacking match fitness. In this way the only player that remain injured at Deportivo is goalkeeper Fabricio Agosto (knee).

So, this means that the coach has now his full squad available as the Canarian keeper is out for the rest of the season. The 23 men that are available for the trip to Asturias is the highest number that he will have from here until the last matchday. Another of the novelties is that one of the training pitch at Abegondo is finally covered with signboards and advertising material that makes impossible to watch the tactical trainings, now Víctor has the privacy to prepare the lineups ahead of the games without needing behind closed doors sessions at the Riazor.

At Sporting Gijón, the last two wins have refreshed a young team that was starting to feel the consequences of a negative dynamic. Now the team coached by Abelardo is more optimistic and sees the game against Deportivo as a new step towards the middle of the standings.

The only casualty at the team is centre-back Bernardo, who suffered a serious injury that will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season. The Asturians already moved quickly and replaced him with Igor Lichnovsky, the Chilean came loaned from Porto during the winter window and could be making his debut in la liga.

Goalkeeper Iván Cuellar ended the game with Valencia CF with a knee sprain, but he is already training with the team and it’s expected that he will be a starter, while three players have been sick during the week: defenders Nacho Cases and Lora, plus striker Carlos Castro, but the trio should be available for Saturday.
