Depor remain in shock after the heavy loss with Barcelona , but need a reaction as three more points are needed for the permanence. Víctor picked two players from Fabril before a rival that’s playing for nothing.

On December 19, Depor were defeating SD Eibar at the Riazor (2-0). The Blanquiazul team was about to end the first round and was leaving positive feelings, but it turns out that the Galician side only clinched one win in the following eighteen matches.

Now Depor visit the same SD Eibar watching how the relegation zone approaches with only four games remaining. In that full round after the win over the Basques, Deportivo have turned to be the worst team at Primera with only twelve points added in the period. Neither good is the situation for SD Eibar; the Basques have only added twenty points in the same frame, but at least they already reached the mark of 41 points, so they won’t suffer as it happened on last season.

The only good news for Deportivo is that they have chained three straight victories over SD Eibar. The Basques are the seventh best home team in the league with 27 points added in 17 home meetings, however they have lost four of the last six home matches. In the case of Depor, their last away success was the 0-2 win visiting UD Las Palmas (November 28).

The devastating 0-8 loss before FC Barcelona was followed by the news that Thursday’s results have cut the difference with relegation to only six points, and with twelve points remaining in the schedule, Depor are now feeling the pressure as at least three more points are needed in order to secure the permanence, while the fans want to see another team compared to the soulless version of Tuesday.

With only two days to think of it, coach Víctor Sánchez has reacted making changes at the roster. Two players from Fabril were picked for the game: centre-back Róber Pier and right winger Óscar ‘Pinchi’ García, while experienced men like Albert Lopo and Manuel Pablo were left out.

Striker Jonathan Rodríguez is also out, on Wednesday he was posting a photo in Instagram and Twitter with Barca’s Luis Suarez after the 0-8, something that caused the protests of the fans and that led to a public apology. Questioned about the reasons for the changes, Víctor just argued that he makes the roster depending on several things that he sees during the week, including their behaviour of the players.

However, the coach will probably return to the 4-4-2 figure used before. It’s expected that Manu Fernández will remain at the goal despite the eight goals in midweek, Juanfran Moreno will cover the right side of the defence, Fernando Navarro performs on the left, then Alejandro Arribas returns after serving a three-match suspension and joins Sidnei Rechel at the central positions.

Celso Borges and Pedro Mosquera remain performing at midfield, Cani is expected to perform on the right wing, Fayçal Fajr does it in the left, while Lucas Pérez and Oriol Riera are the centre forwards.

Luisinho didn’t end Friday’s session due to a knock and joins Luis Alberto, Fabricio Agosto and German Lux at the injury room. The players out for tactical reasons are Juan Dominguez, Lopo, Manuel Pablo and Jonathan Rodríguez

List of picked players: (18) Manu, Pletikosa (goalkeepers); Laure, Arribas, Sidnei, Róber, Juanfran, Navarro (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Celso Borges, Mosquera, Jonás, Cartabia, Óscar García, Cani, Fayçal Fajr (midfielders); Lucas Pérez & Oriol Riera (attackers)

The situation of SD Eibar is pretty similar to the one of Deportivo. The Basques made a great first round and, as it happened to them on last season, they have lowered the level in 2016. Luckily for them the drama of last year won’t be repeated as they already reached the 41 points after the last home win over Real Sociedad.

Therefore, there’s a feeling of calm surrounding the club despite president Alex Aranzábal has just announced his resignation scheduled for May due to a conflict with the board. At the same time there’s a feeling that the team is tired, mentally and physically. The 4-0 loss visiting Valencia demonstrated that Los Armeros are begging to end the season. So, Depor will meet a team that has nothing to win, but also nothing to lose within the last four matchdays.

Captain Dani Garcia is out suspended as coach Mendilibar presents a 4-4-2 formation. Asier Riesgo should be the starting keeper, Ander Capa covers the right side of the defence, David Juncà performs at the left. Then Ion Ansotegi and Iván Ramis are the centre-backs.

Adrián González and Argentine Gonzalo Escalante are the centre midfielders, Sergio Gontán ‘Keko’ attacks from the right wing, Japanese Takashi Inui does it from the left, while Sergi Enrich and Borja Bastón are the centre forwards.

The performance of the couple Enrich-Bastón explains a lot why Eibar didn’t have relegation problems on this season, 26-year-old Enrich has scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists so far, while ex-Depor Bastón is one of the sensations in la liga with 17 goals in favour plus 2 assists. He remains in the list of candidates for Spain’s national squad ahead of the Euro 2016.

List of picked players: (21) Irureta, Riesgo (goalkeepers); Ansotegi, Pantić, Ramis, Mauro Dos Santos, Lillo, Juncà, Ekiza (defenders); Escalante, Radosevic, Capa, Inui, Hajrović, Keko Gontán, Saúl Berjón, Jota, Adrián, Iñigo Barrenetxea (midfielders); Enrich & Borja Bastón (attackers).

Eibar: (4-4-2) Riesgo – Capa, Ramis, Ansotegi, David Juncà – Keko, Adrián, Escalante, Inui – Enrich, Bastón.
Deportivo: (4-4-2) Manu – Juanfran, Arribas, Sidnei, Navarro – Cani, Borges, Mosquera, Fajr – Lucas, Oriol Riera.
Referee: Eduardo Prieto Iglesias
Kick-off: 22h05 CET (Ipurúa)
Head-to-head Vs. Eibar: 7 wins for Depor, 3 draws, 4 wins for Eibar (Primera & Segunda)
Record in Ipurúa: 2 wins for Depor, 2 draws, 2 wins for Eibar (Primera & Segunda)
