Deportivo will face Mallorca in the next round of the Copa del Rey. That's the result of the draw that took place yesterday in Madrid. It will be the sixth eliminatory between the two teams in the history of the Copa.

The first leg will be played in the Ono stadium (Son Moix) on January 10th, while the second leg will take place on January 17th at the Riazor. The confrontation will mean the return of Diego Trist??n to the Riazor. The Sevillan striker abandoned Depor at the beginning of this season and returned to his first Primera club.

Deportivo has won four of the five previous series, and the only time that Mallorca eliminated Depor was during the 2002/2003 season. At that time Mallorca won the first leg at the Riazor with two goals scored by Pandiani and one by Samuel Eto'o (3-2). Depor wasn't able to react during the second leg, and the team, coached at that time by Jabo Irureta, only managed a 1-1 draw at the Son Moix.

The rest of the series presents interesting situations, such as the return of Quique Flores to Getafe with his Valencia, or the match between Irureta's Betis and Real Madrid. The last eliminatory between Atl?Štico Madrid and Levante is still to be decided since the second leg game couldn't be played due to bad weather. The winner of this series will face Osasuna, meaning that the Mexican coach, Javier Aguirre, could be facing his former team.

The full list of matches in the round of 16 is:
Betis vs. Real Madrid
Atl?Štico Madrid/Levante vs. Osasuna
M??laga vs. Zaragoza
Valladolid vs. Villarreal
Rayo Vallecano vs. Sevilla
Mallorca vs. Deportivo
Barcelona vs. Alav?Šs
Valencia vs. Getafe
