Brazilian midfielder Guilherme dos Santos has signed for Deportivo in a loan deal coming from Udinese Calcio. The deal includes a buyout option for an undisclosed amount.

Deportivo announced on Saturday the signing if centre midfielder Guilherme dos Santos. The operation is loan deal with Udinese Calcio for one season with Deportivo having a buyout option at the end of the period. The amount of the option wasn’t revealed.

Last week the Italian media talked about this option and coach Gaizka Garitano said on Friday that a player was about to sign for Depor, one day later the club was announcing the signing of the 25-year-old centre midfielder.

Guilherme started his professional career at Brazilian club Portuguesa and became noticed performing for Corinthians, club where he completed 77 official games between 2012 and 2014, always performing as a defensive midfielder. In 2003 he was part of the team that won the Recopa Sudamericana.

Then Udinese Calcio, an expert club in exploring the South American market, decided to pay €4 million for him. He stayed at the Italian side and for the season 2014/15 and made 34 appearances in the Calcio, but this good debit radically changed on last season, because a series of muscle injuries reduced his participation to only seven games (five in liga and two in Copa), so the player was now at the door out.

Guilherme is the ninth signing of Deportivo ahead of the season 2016/17. Previously the Galician club completed the signings of goalkeepers Przemysław Tytoń and Rubén Martínez, right-back Juanfran Moreno, centre-back Raúl Albentosa, wingers Bruno Gama and Emre Çolak, centre midfielder Fayçal Fajr, plus attacker Borja Valle.
