First defeat on the pre-season for Deportivo. The Galicians started well, but later lost power and ended conceding two goals in the second half. Brazilian Guilherme debuted in the final part.

Coach Gaizka Garitano presented a 4-3-3 formation with German Lux at the goal, the Argentine was returning after his injury. Laure covered the right side in defence, Fernando Navarro performed on the left with Albentosa and Sidnei at the central positons.

Emre Çolak joined Celso Borges and Pedro Mosquera at midfield, Bruno Gama attacked from the right wing, Oriol Riera was attached to the left, while Lucas Pérez was the centre forward.

The first half started with Depor been the better team within the first 25 minutes, with Bruno Gama and Sidnei as the most active players on the field. The first attempt in the game was a lateral free-kick by Bruno Gama that was an easy catch for Rubén Blanco (4’), one minute later Lucas tried to surprise the keeper with a shot from midfield, but it was also an easy catch for Celta’s goalie.

Bruno Gama was the only player that created scoring opportunities within the first minutes, he completed the next two attempts by Depor, the first was a new lateral free-kick and later a shot from the edge of the area that missed the target (10’). Celta’s first approximation was a cross by Wass that was blocked by Lux (16’).

Deportivo continued to look better in attack, at minute 16, Sidnei joined the attack on the left wing and his low cross was connected by Oriol Riera with the ball ending out.  Celta completed its first shot on target at minute 23, it was a low attempt by Drazic blocked by Lux

After this opportunity, Celta turned to be the best side on the field. Depor were bottled at their side of the pitch for the final minutes in the half, Jonny attempted a volley that missed the target (37’). Then Iago Aspas was close to score with a shot from the edge of the area that missed the target and the last chance in the half was a free-kick by Wass that went wide (43’).

Tytoń replaced Lux at the start of the second half and both sides had a chance to score within the first minutes. Emre Çolak attempted a long-range shot that was blocked by Rubén Blanco (48’), one minute later Drazic attempted a low shot that was stopped by Tytoń.

Celta were looking better, having more arrivals before a rival without ideas in attack. Fajr replaced Riera and the draw was switched into a 4-2-3-1, but Deportivo were still lost in the pitch.  Then los Celestes scored.

Borges fouled Pape Cheikh at the edge of the area and in the resulting free-kick Iago Aspas scored with a perfect shot into the top-left corner of the goal. Depor made a lot of changes after the goal, including the debut of Brazilian Guilherme, and the team improved, but it barely created chances to score, the main one was a header by Albentosa that missed the target (83’).

Depor were desperate within the last minutes, to the point that Albentosa stayed as centre forward trying to find any aerial ball, while Álex stayed as centre-back. And Celta capitalized the confusion to score the second goal at the last minute through a counterattack in which the shot of Naranjo was met by Radoja at the goal line.
