The club confirmed on Tuesday that Bicho is going to play loaned at Racing Club de Ferrol. The winger has spent the last three seasons out, which included a two-year stage at Barca B.

Winger Javier Fernández Abruñedo ‘Bicho’ has been loaned to Racing Club Ferrol for the season 2016/17. The announcement was made on Tuesday and it means that he will continue performing at Segunda División B. His future looks uncertain as his contract expires in 2017 and is unlikely that Depor are going to use the clause that allows a renewal.

A lot was expected from this 20-year-old winger, who in 2013 became into the youngest player in 35 years to play a liga game with Deportivo, but later failed to impress coach Fernando Vázquez and started a series of loan spells that didn’t improved the career of the player.

After a failed period at Barcelona B, he was loaned to Segunda club CD Leganés only to find out there was no room for him there. He left the Madrilenian club during the winter window without playing any single minute and was loaned to Segunda B club SD Compostela. That was another bad experience for him.

Bicho got minutes there, but his performance wasn’t spectacular and neither was helpful for his team in order to avoid the demotion to Tercera. The winger scored three goals and played in 17 of the 19 Segunda B games since his arrival to Galicia’s capital.  He joined the pre-season of Deportivo in July and since the beginning it was clear that he wasn’t part of the plans of coach Gaizka Garitano.

Bicho is the eighth player under contract that leaves Depor during the summer. Pablo Insua (Leganés), Juan Dominguez (Mallorca) and Róber (Levante) were loaned, while Miguel Cardoso and Luis Fernández rescinded their contracts, and Manuel Pablo is now retired.
