New victory for Depor in the pre-season; Garitano used again the system with three centre-backs and didn’t face problems in defence. Borja Valle scored against his former team and Navarro closed the score.

Coach Gaizka Garitano was again using the system with three centre-backs, something that he explained during the week as he wants to develop two draws during the season. Lux was the goalkeeper, Arribas, Albentosa and Sidnei were the centre-backs, with Bruno Gama and Fernando Navarro acting as full-backs.

Pedro Mosquera and Fayçal Fajr were the centre midfielders, with Emre Çolak attacking from the left wing, Borja Valle did it from the right and Lucas Pérez was the centre forward.

The rival was Segunda outfit Real Oviedo and the game was played as part of the Emma Cuervo trophy. Toché was a starter at the Asturian team. The game was boring from start to finish, only the first goal and the opportunities had at the end of both halves animated a soulless match between two teams that at times were too harsh. Lucas and Guilherme were the best players as they were the ones creating the few chances to score.

Depor had the first opportunity with a direct free-kick that Lucas smashed into the wall (3’). The game had a low pace within the first twenty minutes, there were countless fouls that were cutting the actions and later both teams weren’t finding the way to the goal.

At the middle of the half Deportivo gained control of the actions and Lucas had two clear chances to score. In the first he missed the target after collecting a pass from Mosquera (32’), three minutes later he hit the woodwork after collecting a long pass from Albentosa.

In the middle of both plays, Real Oviedo had its first big chance -the only one in the game- through the free-kick taken by Néstor Susaeta (33’). Lux controlled the ball. Depor continued dominating and Borja Valle was close to score after collecting the ball in a bad pass at Real Oviedo’s defence, but he missed the target (42’).

For the second half Guilherme replaced Çolak and Deportivo opened the scoresheet through Borja Valle. Lucas made the play, Guilherme made the shot on target and the ex-Oviedo striker netted from the goal line.

The goal didn’t improve the pace of the first part, Oviedo continued lost and only created problems in some set-pieces, while Depor only created danger when Lucas and Guilherme were appearing, the latter was controlling the traffic of the ball at midfield, and also participated in the plays of both goals.

And as it happened in the first part, Deportivo looked better in the final stretch of the period and had a double occasion, this time it capitalized the second one. First Borja Valle failed to define before substitute goalie Esteban after been assisted by Lucas

One minute later Guilherme drilled the ball into the left side of the area, Fernando Navarro collected the ball and faced Esteban without opposition to score the second goal. Within the last ten minutes Depor made the last two changes with Oriol Riera and Borges replacing Borja Valle and Fajr.
