Winger Marlos Moreno arrived on Sunday to La Coruña and will undergo the medicals today. The Colombian is coming on loan from Manchester City after only spending nine months as a professional footballer.

The club will announce today that Marlos Moreno Durán will play with Deportivo during the season 2016/17. Manchester City FC are paying around €10 million for him and he goes immediately on loan to the Galician side. AS reported that Depor have a loan option for a second year if they want. The player will undergo the medicals on Monday.

The 19-year-old Colombian player is a clear example of how fast a career of a footballer can evolve, because he passed from signing a professional contract to belong to a big club in the Premier League in a matter of nine months.

Moreno joined the academy of Atlético Nacional when he was 14 and played as a centre forward, later Juan Carlos Osorio, who is currently the national coach of Mexico, transformed him into a winger due to his electric moves and speed.

His professional debut took place on October 15, 2014 as his Atlético Nacional lost before Jaguares de Córdoba in liga (2-1). And the player signed his first professional contract during last year, since then he made 27 league appearances scoring 5 goals and brining 6 assists.

But where he called the attention was in Copa Libertadores, competition recently won by Atlético Nacional with Moreno shinning making 11 appearances with 3 goals scored plus adding 4 assists. Before the final stage in the competition, he played with the national team of Colombia in Copa America 2006 and scored his first goal with the team facing Costa Rica (3-2 win).

Before leaving Colombia. the player was explained why he decided to go to Europe, “I chose Manchester City because they were buying me and sending me on loan to Deportivo, and I saw the chance to play there. This is a drastic and complicate decision, but I think it’s the best choice. I only want to play, play and play. I am going out after only nine months as a professional. I wanted this, but later in my career; still, I am very happy as it happened.”

Marlos Moreno is the twelfth signing of Deportivo ahead of the season 2016/17. Previously the Galician club completed the signings of goalkeepers Przemysław Tytoń and Rubén Martínez, right-back Juanfran Moreno, centre-back Raúl Albentosa, wingers Bruno Gama and Emre Çolak, centre midfielders Fayçal Fajr and Guilherme, playmaker Carles Gil, plus attackers Borja Valle and Florin Andone.
