Deportivo want to react to the painful loss with Athletic as it enters a week with three games. All the players available are traveling, including Babel, whose transfer hasn’t arrived. The rival wants to seize its good moment.

Referee: Juan Martínez Munera
Kick-off: 20h45 CET (Mendizorroza)

Deportivo conquered the salvation on last season with a 0-2 win at Villarreal CF, it was the last away match of the campaign and perhaps the most complete presentation in the second round. It’s a sweet memory, but only an exception of what has been a poor run on the road, because the Galicians have faced problems playing away of the Riazor within the last year, because that was the lonely away win for Depor within the last thirteen liga visits.

The Galicians have suffered a lot in their visits to Alavés, but they only lost one of the last four games played at Mendizorroza. With the Basques spending a long time at Segunda & Segunda B there was only a confrontation between both clubs within the last decade, it was for the Segunda campaign 2013/14 and it ended in a 1-1 draw.

The departure of Lucas Pérez, plus the injuries of Joselu and Sidnei, brought some pessimism among the fans after a positive start that meant to add four of the first six points in dispute. Now coach Gaizka Garitano wants to clear the ghost and recover the hope switching the draw back into a 4-2-3-1.

Team news: Midfielder Álex Bergantiños is back as Garitano picked all the available players, attacker Ryan Babel is also traveling, but won’t play as his transfer hasn’t arrived and as the coach believes he needs a few more days. Winger Bruno Gama is recovered from his knee sprain, but left-back Fernando Navarro (Soleus), centre-back Sidnei Rechel (muscle) and striker Joselu (knee) are the players at the injury room.

Man to watch: Winger Bruno Gama. Deportivo need a leader and a reference and the Portuguese can be that guidance in his returning game. He was a starter in the first two games and only missed the match with Athletic Club due to injury reasons.

Picked players: (18) Lux, Tytoń (goalkeepers); Laure, Juanfran, Arribas, Albentosa, Luisinho (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Borges, Pedro Mosquera, Çolak, Fajr, Guilherme, Bruno Gama, Carles Gil (midfielders); Borja Valle, Marlos Moreno & Florin Andone (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lux – Juanfran, Albentosa, Arribas, Luisinho –Borges, Mosquera – Bruno Gama, Fajr, Marlos Moreno - Andone.

The league is just starting, but it’s possible to say that Deportivo Alavés has been the surprise at Liga Santander. Despite been the club that made more signings (18) and changing the coach, the Basques have impressed with a quick adaptation after picking four points from their visits to Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona, candidates to the title, now they want to prove that it wasn’t only an accident facing a direct rival for the permanence.

They key is that they knew how to capitalize the absences of their rivals; against Atlético they seized the fact that Griezmann wasn’t available, while against Barca, neither Messi nor Luis Suárez were starters. And before the Galicians they want to seize the absences of Sidnei and Joselu.

Team news: Coach Mauricio Pellegrino recovered centre-back Alexis Ruano, who suffered a knock in a friendly played on Thursday. But centre-back Zouhair Feddal remains sidelined with an ankle injury suffered in the opening matchday.

Man to watch: Midfielder Daniel Torres. The Colombian signed for Alavés after performing for his country in the Copa América and has settle despite been his first experience in Europe. He was key in the victory against Barcelona with his passes. He is one of the three men that have played all the possible minutes with his team and the one with more passes (125).

Picked players: The roster for the game will be released until Monday.

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Pacheco – Theo Hernández, Alexis, Laguardia, Raúl García – Kiko Feminía, Llorente, Torres – Edgar, Deyverson, Ibai Gómez.
