Ryan Babel was picked for the first time as Garitano wants to improve the offensive performance. The rival arrives in a good mood despite the loss with FC Barcelona; Pablo Insua won’t play.

Referee: Alberto Undiano Mallenco
Kick-off: 20h00 CET (Riazor)

On this season Deportivo already spent three straight games without scoring a goal (273 minutes). This is the longest drought for the Galicians since February of 2015, time when the team coached by Víctor Fernández spent 309 minutes without netting a goal. At the same time the Galicians have clinched two clean sheets within the first two matches, something that’s occurring for the first time since the campaign 2009/10.

This is the first official meeting against CD Leganés, it’s the 56th rival that Deportivo face in a Primera competition. Ten of the last twelve new rivals met by Depor lost at the time of visiting the Riazor, the two sides that were unable to be beat Deportivo were CD Numancia (1999/00) and UD Almería (2007/08).

Coach Gaizka Garitano is ready to make changes, beyond a situation related to tiredness (only three days for the rest after the game with Alavés) it is related to the ineffectiveness in attack. Up to two changes are possible as the Basque trainer is open to give a new opportunity to Emre Çolak and Guilherme. The draw remains a 4-2-3-1 as Depor play at home and as there are only two centre-backs available for this week.
Team news: Left-back Fernando Navarro is recovered from a muscle injury and enters the roster for the game, though it’s expected he will be on the bench. The other novelty is Ryan Babel, the Dutchman could have minutes in the second half. Álex Bergantiños and Carles Gil are out for tactical reasons. Sidnei and Joselu are the players staying at the injury room.

Man to watch: Striker Florin Andone. The Romanian is frustrated after failing to score in this start of the league. The former Pichichi of Segunda is anxious -as it could be noticed by a post by him in Twitter- and is starting to feel the pressure. A goal would help him to gain self-esteem and will help to break the negative streak in attack.

Picked players: (18) Lux, Tytoń (goalkeepers); Laure, Juanfran, Arribas, Navarro, Albentosa, Luisinho (defenders); Borges, Pedro Mosquera, Çolak, Fajr, Guilherme, Bruno Gama (midfielders); Borja Valle, Ryan Babel, Marlos Moreno & Florin And one (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lux – Juanfran, Albentosa, Arribas, Luisinho –Guilherme, Mosquera – Bruno Gama, Fajr, Çolak - Andone.

This is only the first season of CD Leganés at the elite and the true is that they have settled quickly, despite the heavy loss before FC Barcelona (1-5) they have the conditions to aspire to the permanence based in a system that fluctuates between a normal defence with four men and a draw with three centre-backs. It’s a very similar style to the one of Alavés, because the Madrilenians also base their game in a solid defence, without too many touches at midfield and speed in attack, that’s how they managed to defeat RC Celta in the opening matchday.

Los Pepineros represent one of those Cinderella stories of a club that passes from Segunda B to Primera in a matter of a couple of seasons. They were playing at the third tier in the campaign 2013/14, then clinched the promotion to Segunda and only needed two seasons to reach the elite. The secret has been the business direction of the marriage Felipe Moreno-Victoria Pavón and the guidance of coach Asier Garitano, a former striker of SD Eibar.

Team news: Coach Asier Garitano has no injury concerns, but loses Pablo Insua, who is ineligible to perform against his parent club. His spot at the centre of the defence will be covered by Unai Bustinza.

Man to watch: Midfielder Gabriel Appelt. The Brazilian is one of the players that have performed all the possible minutes in liga with Leganés and is a vital piece at midfield, used to perform on the left wing he has been also used as a second striker and already scored a goal in the competition.

Picked players: (21)  Serantes, Brignoli (goalkeepers); Bustinza, Adrián Marín, Mantovani, Medjani, Diego Rico, Víctor Díaz (defenders); Alberto Martín, Machís, Gabriel, Toni Dovale, Szymanowski, Róber Ibáñez, Unai López, Rubén Pérez, Sastre, Omar, Timor (midfielders); Guerrero, Koné & Luciano (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Serantes – Bustinza, Mantovani, Medjani , Rico – Rubén Pérez, Timor - Omar, Gabriel, Szymanowski - Luciano.
