Deportivo are searching for an identity and in this process the team is relying a lot in its defenders. Juanfran has been a fixed starter and is among the players with more touches in the games.

It hasn’t been a good start of season for Deportivo, after picking four points in the first two games later the team only added one of the next twelve. After the exit of Lucas, and with the arrival of new coach Gaizka Garitano, the team is trying to find an identity and in the process to find new leaders.

In this sense players like Juanfran Moreno have emerged as the leaders in the transition. The Madrilenian right-back has been chosen by the peña members as the best player in September. With Depor having problems to dominate the matches, the weight of the team has been carried by the defenders and that’s when Juanfran appeared.

He was the player with more touches until matchday 05 (he was rested in the last game with Atlético) and the fans noticed his work in the games against Athletic Club and Deportivo Alavés naming him as the best player in those encounters. Juanfran was the player more involved in the games either with the runs on the right side or with long throws searching for the attackers.

Another player that has emerged as a leader is Emre Çolak. The Turkish didn’t have a good performance in the first two games, but in the last two he was the one with more ideas in attack. The fans appreciated his skills with the ball and was named as the best player in the game with CD Leganés.
