REVIEW: RACING VILALBÉS 1 – FABRIL 0 (TERCERA)

14 Nov 2016
New defeat in a new poor performance by Deportivo. The team conceded a goal in a distraction and later faced many problems to create scoring opportunities.

BEFORE THE GAME
Coach Cristobal Parrolo was still missing Anxo Pérez and Marcos Legaz, who were joined by Álvaro Queijeiro due to a muscle problem, but Hugo Rama was back and went directly into the starting eleven. Goalkeeper Álex Cobo was also a starter after been out for a month.

The draw was a 4-4-2. Cobo was covering the goal, Blas Alonso performed at the right side in defence, Arnau Campeny and Nacho Monsalve were the centre-backs, Lucas Viña performed at the left side, Hugo Rama and Edu Expósito were the centre midfielders; Borja Galán attacked from the left wing, Álex Corredera did it from the right, then Óscar García  played behind Jardel in attack.

The rival was Racing Vilalbés, team fighting at the top and that was aspiring to tie first place Rápido de Bouzas with a victory in this game. Coach Óscar Gilsánz was counting with top-scorer Gerardo Carrera, who before this game had netted eight goals in liga. Ex-Juvenil A David García was on the bench and entered for the second half.

THE MATCH
Depor B remain to be a team that commits errors that cost goals and that later face big problems to score goals. Once again the team faced a disadvantage in the scoresheet and once again it faced big problems to overcome the situation.

Things were equal within the first twenty minutes, but Racing Vilalbés had two chances to score in this period. In the first, Álex Pérez attempted from close range and Lucas Viña cleared the ball at the goal line (7’). The second chance was the first and lonely goal in the game.

Jose Varela stole the ball and unleashed a counterattack assisting Gerardo Carrera, who didn't miss from close range before Álex Cobo. The goal defined the script for the rest of the first half as Fabril insisted searching for the equalizer, while Racing Vilalbés were trying to extend the lead through the counterattack.

Fabril had the ball and had some problems to step into the rival’s area, so the best opportunities came in set-pieces. The best chances for Depor’s lads were an attempt from Blas Alonso in a corner-kick that he sent out (29’) and a lateral free-kick in which Óscar García attempted a shot that passed close to the post (39’).

The locals were also close to score in a counterattack in which Álex Souto missed the target from close range (32’). Half-time arrived with the feeling that the score was fair as Racing Vilalbés seized its best chance and later defended the result without suffering too much before a plane Fabril that had the ball and that later missed depth.

The script was the same in the second half: Fabril had the ball, but missed to create scoring chances, while Racing Vilalbés were waiting at their side of the field trying to unleash a counterattack. The best chance for the visiting team was a shot of Corredera that missed the target (64’). Meanwhile, Sergio Arias scored for the locals, but his goal was disallowed due to an offside (59’).

Even coach Parrolo seemed impotent as he only made two changes, one replacing Hugo Rama with Ángel and the other was the entry of Borja Domingo for Jardel, but there was no reaction.

AFTER THE GAME
Second straight defeat for a Depor B that didn’t show any reaction after conceding the first goal, the results pulls down the team to the sixth spot, though only one point away from the playoff zone. The next game will be played at Abegondo against CD Ribadumia
