DEPORTIVO IN JANUARY

01 Jan 2017
Up to eight games are waiting for Deportivo in January, this since the team remains alive in Copa Del Rey. In liga, the Galicians face three direct rivals plus one of the top-four teams.

January can end up being the busiest month on the season for Deportivo, this since the Galicians could be playing twice a week if they continue advancing in Copa Del Rey. The first official game in 2017 is the home clash hosting Deportivo Alavés, this for the last-16 round in Copa Del Rey.

The Basques didn’t face any problem in dispatching Segunda outfit Gimnástic Tarragona in the previous round (aggregate 6-0). This is their best moment on the season after spending six official games without losing. The second-leg will be played one week later and, in case of passing the round, the quarterfinals will also be played in January (the draw for the round takes place on January 13).

The first game in liga of 2017 is the visit to RCD Espanyol. The Catalans had a slow start after losing three of the first six games in liga, but later they have only lost one of the next ten. And that defeat was in the last matchday visiting FC Barcelona (4-1). Los Periquitos shouldn’t be content though, because they were just eliminated in Copa by Segunda club AD Alcorcón (penalty shootout).
