Mixed feelings after the game, Garitano and Borges were content with the point, while Albentosa didn’t like it. Espanyol’s coach thinks that his team deserved more.

Coach Gaizka Garitano was saying that the result was fair, “When you start winning 0-1 you always want to win, and it is a pity that, when you were better, they were able to tie, but in the end it was a game with alternatives. During the second half both teams wanted to win and went out for the victory. For the things done by both sides, I think that the draw is fair.”

“We were fine within the first twenty minutes of the second part, it was the best moment that we had and we allowed the goal just when we were playing better. It is a pity. They also play, we were close and, with the expulsion, the point was good and I believe the team made a great work. We deserved this result. They also have good players, they were also pressing and we must understand the draw as a good result” He added.

The Basque coach also explained why he only made the changes until the end, “Several times the modifications don’t improve the performance of the team, many times what you have to do when things aren’t working, or when a player is too tired, is to make a change, but the team was at their best moment and I didn’t consider to make changes. We neither have too many variants in offense. I didn’t see the need to make changes in the final stretch.”

Finally, Garitano avoided to talk of signings, “It clear that we need people, but this is a slow step and we need to have patience. The club works on this and what I need to do is to extract the best from the people that I have, nothing more. I have confidence in the work of the club.”

Celso Borges scored the goal for Depor and was content with the point added, “The point is good to continue escalating positons. Obviously, we wanted the three points, but the circumstances were like this and we need to continue. On next weekend there’s another final.”

“It is good to keep the habit of adding points. There’s union and we all are working to add points. The team made the merits to not allow goals, but it happened. The important thing is that we continued developing our game and had opportunities.” The midfielder added.

Who wasn’t content with the result was Raúl Albentosa, “I never leave a field content with a draw, though according to what the game was… I believe we had more chances and in the end suffered the expulsion, but the team was well placed and we left a better impression.”

He also commented his physical problems during the game, “I have a knock on the foot… I held on because I thought it was only a knock.” About the situation with the team regarding the casualties, he admitted that Depor have a short squad, “We found the right team with Carles [Gil] and Babel and now we need to get used to another thing; truly we have Borja [Valle] and Óscar, but we are with a short squad.”

At RCD Espanyol, coach Quique Sánchez Flores was thinking that hiss team deserved more from this game, “We knew it was going to be a complicate game. I believe we had a good performance, we played well and were tense. We were better having the ball compared to other days and truly the game was there for us in those three chances that we had before that set-piece. The game was more complicated after the goal, but we have nerves. Still, the final result is short for what we deserved.”
“We were fine, Deportivo allow you to play as they did in the second part, they move the ball fine with players like Gama and Çolak, who are complicated. The game was where we wanted, but weren’t effective in the plays we had, but we have courage. I am content with the sacrifice of the players.” He added.
