Garitano will barely have enough men to complete the roster for the last game in the first round. New signings Kakuta and Ola John won’t be available. The rival is also having key injuries, starting with Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Deportivo close the first round in la liga with the visit to UD Las Palmas (Estadio de Gran Canaria, Friday, 20h45 CET). Once again coach Gaizka Garitano is affected by the casualties and will have a limited squad for the match.

Wingers Carles Gil (knee sprain) and Bruno Gama (adductor) remain out injured, while attacker Borja Valle picked a knock during the game against Villarreal CF and the club decided to already send him loaned to Segunda club Elche CF.

New signings Ola John and Gaël Kakuta are already training at Abegondo, but won’t be available for Friday as both men are lacking fitness. Then Fayçal Fajr remains concentrated with Morocco and could be back as soon as next week after the Atlas Lions lost in their debut in the African Cup.

The only good news is that right-back Juanfran Moreno returns from suspension. Still, the coach will only have eighteen men available including the three goalkeepers, so once again he will have to pick a player from Fabril in order to complete the roster, probably it will be winger Óscar García ‘Pinchi’.

At UD Las Palmas, the team coached by Quique Setién is living a positive season and are currently closer to Europe (7 points) than to relegation (12 points). But they are facing important casualties ahead of the visit of Deportivo.

Attacker Kevin-Prince Boateng has been a positive surprise in liga and is the top-scorer at the team with five goals added to his tally, but he’s suspended after picking the fifth yellow card of the season in the previous meeting with FC Barcelona.

There are other three casualties affecting the preparation of Friday’s game, centre-backs David García (hamstring) and Pedro Bigas (knee) are out injured, so there are only two players for that position: Ex-Depor Aythami Artiles and Mauricio Lemos.

The other casualty is centre midfielder Ángel Montoro (knock), though the later has only played 339 minutes in liga. Also to remember that another centre midfielder, Javi Castellano, has been out the entire season with a knee injury.

And there are other problems as winger Pedro Tanausú ‘Tana’ (muscle), left-back Dani Castellano (groin) and attacker Jonathan Viera (knock) haven’t been training with the team during the week, though it’s expected that the three of them could be available for Friday.

The Canarians are also busy in the market and they have been linked with moves for ex-Real Madrid Jesé Rodríguez, plus attacker Jonathan Calleri and centre midfielder Hernán Toledo, but there won’t be signings before the game with Depor.
