Rubén Martínez will play loaned until the end of the season at RSC Anderlecht. It’s an unusual deal that includes the arrival on loan of Davy Roef.

On Tuesday, Deportivo closed the paperwork in order to allow the exit of goalkeeper Rubén Martínez. The Galician will now play loaned at RSC Anderlecht, the deal also includes the arrival of Davy Roef in a sort of swap or double loan deal.

The reason for the deal is that Rubén isn’t feeling happy with his lack of participation. He had the role of third keeper at Depor and only played in the four games disputed n Copa Del Rey. He had good performances before Real Betis and Deportivo Alavés but, after the elimination, it was clear that he wasn’t going to play as coach Gaizka Garitano was never picking him for the league games (Lux and Tytoń were his options).

After signing a two-year contract during the summer, Deportivo didn’t want to lose a keeper that showed positive things in Copa and that’s also Galician, especially since Lux is ending contract at the end of the campaign.

For this reason, a loan exit was the only solution that was accepted, the player came with the option of RSC Anderlecht and the club told the keeper that the operation will be granted until they find a replacement as the sporting direction wanted to have a third keeper. And the option came from the same Belgian club, so a swap was negotiated.

Rubén is the second exit of Deportivo during the winter window. Previously winger Ryan Babel left the club after ending his contract in December. No more exits are expected, though Deportivo are not closing the possibility to sell a player, like the possibility of Fayçal Fajr, who has been linked with Turkish clubs.
