PREVIEW: REAL SOCIEDAD – DEPORTIVO (LIGA)

23 Apr 2017
Pepe Mel presents his tenth different lineup in ten games as Deportivo caress the permanence. Real Sociedad are making the last push for the Europa League.

Referee: Daniel Ocón Arráiz
Kick-off: 12h00 CET (Anoeta)

STATISTICS: POOR FORM
Real Sociedad have been considered as one of the teams that practices the better football in la liga, but they arrive to this meeting in their lowest moment in the season, this after losing four times within the last six matchdays, they only picked four points in the period, mark only above CD Leganés (3) and Granada CF (1).

Meanwhile, Deportivo arrive to the meeting with a nine-point gap with relegation, which means that a combination of results could sort the permanence at the middle of the week, but the Galicians have been terrible on the road after only adding eight points after sixteen visits, mark only above UD Las Palmas (6) and Granada CF (4).

Anoeta has been a stadium in which Depor feel comfortable, Los Blanquiazules have only lost in three of their last twelve liga meetings playing there. The last three visits ended in draws, while the last victory there was 0-1 win for the season 2006/07.

DEPORTIVO: TEN GAMES, TEN LINEUPS
Pepe Mel is completing his tenth game at Deportivo and is about to present his tenth different lineup. More than been a quest for the right men, it has been a quest for the right tactic and a matter of circumstances and the availability of the players. For this meeting he is having three suspensions, therefore men like Rubén Albentosa, Álex Bergantiños and Florin Andone are having a new chance.

Mel is also trying to settle a tactic for Deportivo, the Madrilenian coach has been moving between the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-4-2. The first draw is the chosen one for this game, which means the presence of a playmaker and new opportunity for Emre Çolak.

Team news: Mel picked the nineteen players that were available at the first team plus the presence of Fabril’s midfielder Edu Expósito. Centre midfielder Pedro Mosquera is the player at the injury room, while the suspended men are centre-back Alejandro Arribas, centre midfielder Guilherme plus right winger Carles Gil.

Man to watch: Striker Florin Andone. The Romanian continues to be the top scorer at Deportivo (8 goals), but lately he has lost an undisputed role spot after only playing as a starter in two of the last five minutes; he only played 18 minutes against Sevilla CF and 31 against Málaga CF. Hi last goal was at the beginning of March against Atlético Madrid. Now he has a new chance as Joselu will be benched.

Picked players: (20) Tytoń, Lux, Roef (goalkeepers); Laure, Juanfran, Sidnei, Albentosa, Navarro, Luisinho (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Borges, Fayçal Fajr, Edu Expósito, Çolak, Kakuta, Ola John, Bruno Gama (midfielders); Marlos Moreno, Joselu & Andone (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lux – Juanfran, Albentosa, Sidnei, Luisinho – Álex Bergantiños, Borges – Bruno Gama, Çolak, Kakuta – Andone.

REAL SOCIEDAD: LAST PUSH FOR EUROPE
The last results ended with the dream of playing the Champions League, but Real Sociedad have good chances of entering the Europa League. The Txuri-urdines are only one point behind the sixth place and this game it’s one of the three home meetings pending in the calendar, which are crucial as the three of them are against teams with poor numbers on this season (the other two are against Granada CF and Málaga CF).

So, coach Eusebio Sacristán knows that the European aspirations of his side are passing through achieving three home victories and later scratch something from the tough visits to Valencia CF, Sevilla CF and RC Celta. He is ready to put a strong team on the pitch and somehow, despite the latest results, the team feels fresh after a convincing performance in the defeat against FC Barcelona.

Team news: Right-back Carlos Martínez (knee) and striker Imanol Agirretxe (ankle) are the casualties due to injury reasons, right-back Álvaro Odriozola was recovered from a groin problem and was picked for the match. Midfielder Mikel González was also fit to play, but was left out due to tactical reasons.

Man to watch: Striker William José. Very good season for the Brazilian, who is the top-scorer at the team with ten goals in favour plus four assists. His good numbers moved coach Eusebio to play with a 4-3-3 figure, with Juanmi and Vela playing at his sides, and the trident has scored 26 of the 48 goals netted by the Basques in the tournament.

Picked players: (18) Rulli, Toño Ramírez (goalkeepers); Zaldua, Aritz Elustondo, Odriozola, Raúl Navas, Iñigo Martínez, Yuri Berchiche (defenders); Illarramendi, Granero, Zurutuza, Canales, Xabi Prieto, Oyarzabal (midfielders); Carlos Vela., Juanmi, Willian José & Jon Bautista (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Rulli – Zaldua, Raúl Navas, Iñigo Martínez, Yuri – Xabi Prieto, Illarramendi, Zurutuza - Vela, William José, Juanmi.
