Depor search for the permanence in what it’s already a disappointing season for the fans, Mel hinted at least four changes, while Zidane didn’t reveal anything about possible rotations at the starting eleven.

Referee: José María Sánchez Martínez
Kick-off: 21h30 CET (Riazor)

Early in the 2000’s the Riazor was a real nightmare for Real Madrid, Los Blancos were only able to pick two points in the ten games played there between 1999 and 2009, but since then things have radically changed. Because Los Blancos have won three of the last four liga games played in A Coruña scoring fifteen goals. As a way of comparison, they only scored six goals in their previous ten visits to the Riazor.

The defeat in the derby meant the third loss for Real Madrid during this liga season, they are the second best visiting team in the tournament with 35 points added in 15 visits. Their only two defeats playing in this condition were against Sevilla CF and Valencia CF (both 2-1).

Meanwhile, Deportivo represent the sixth worst home team in la liga, Los Blanquiazules have added 23 points in 16 home meetings. This mark is only above Deportivo Alavés (22), Granada CF (16), CD Leganés (14), Sporting Gijón (14) and CA Osasuna (9).

The final stretch in liga is already here and Deportivo haven’t been able to secure the permanence, at least mathematically though it seems difficult that any of the bottom places can reach the Galician side with only five games remaining. The fans were expecting for more and they have now to face the same scenario of the last two years. So, not even a Real Madrid arriving in the decisive part of the tournament is motivating the frustrated public.

Inside the team, the players are trying to keep the motivation, like Florin Andone, who said on Monday that Depor have a pending “thorn” after what happened in the first round game. Meanwhile coach Pepe Mel already admitted that the fans are pissed, as he told to Radio Onda Cero, “The fans are upset, because they were expecting for more on this season. Now we can only press the players in order to secure the permanence as soon as possible.”

Team news: Mel recovers three men that were suspended for the game at Real Sociedad: centre-back Alejandro Arribas, centre midfielder Guilherme plus right winger Carles Gil, so the only player that’s out of the game is Pedro Mosquera, he will remain at the injury room for the remaining of the season.

Man to watch: Centre-back Alejandro Arribas. It will be a busy game for the centre-backs and the Madrilenian is a key if Deportivo want to extract something positive from this game. The Madrilenian has been a fixed starter since the arrival of Pepe Mel.

Picked players: The list will be released on Wednesday (the team trains behind closed doors early in the morning)

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Lux – Laure, Arribas, Sidnei, Navarro – Guilherme, Borges – Bruno Gama, Çolak, Kakuta – Andone.

The defeat against FC Barcelona is just making things harder for Real Madrid in the definitive stage of the season. Now they need to secure every positive point in the local competition and in the middle their other big derby, this time in Europe: the semi-finals in Champions league against Atlético Madrid.

Until this point Zinedine Zidane was making rotations in liga and the media in Madrid believes that he will use “substitutes” again at the Riazor, though nothing is clear for now as the roster will be released until Wednesday.

Team news: Zidane faces big problems in defence, Fábio Coentrão has been injured all season long and is out of the game. Sergio Ramos is suspended after been sent out against Real Madrid, while Pepe remains sidelined with a broken rib. So, Raphael Varane has been rushed after been dragging a muscle problem and will be a starter. Gareth Bale is also out after picking a muscle problem in El Clásico.

Man to watch: Playmaker Marco Asensio. With Bale injured, the 21-year-old playmaker is called to be his substitute in the defining stage of the season. He has had a very positive season and has been praised by the media. The Majorcan has scored twice and provided two assists in his last seven appearances with the team.

Picked players: The roster will be released until Wednesday (the team travels the same day of the game)

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Navas – Carvajal, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo – Isco, Kovačić, James – Lucas Vázquez, Morata, Asensio.
