New big loss at home facing Real Madrid, the early goal forced Depor to play an open game and the Galician outfit paid a high price for it.

- An open game: Deportivo chose a bad moment to decide to play an open game, because that’s exactly the kind of game that Real Madrid like to play. Pepe Mel complained that he missed a compact team like it happened against Barcelona and Atlético. There was so much free space between the lines, especially at midfield. that the Madrilenians were releasing countless counterattacks that were never stopped, the result was to see 22 shots completed by Madrid. Depor were also active in attack and completed 19, in the end the game played at the Riazor with more shots during this season (41).

- Another early goal: The main reason why the game was open was that Depor were uphill since the start, the Galicians felt hurried to attack and all after another early goal that was allowed. And this hasn’t been an isolated problem, at least lately. In three of the last four liga games of Deportivo the team has had a terrible start. In the visit to Sevilla CF, Depor only lasted 54 seconds in conceding the first goal in the match. N’Zonzi got the ball at the left wing and managed to drill the ball into the area, Stevan Jovetić anticipated Sidnei and drilled the ball into the bottom corner of Lux.

On last Sunday, Real Sociedad already had three clear chances to score before the 10-minute mark, including a header from Xabi Prieto after only ten seconds. And in this game the first goal of Real Madrid only lasted 53 seconds. It was an error on the left side of the defence, Isco managed to drill the ball inside the area and Arribas was to slow to mark Álvaro Morata, who scored from inside the box.

- Aptitude or attitude? The defeat unleashed criticism against the players as the fans consider that they lacked attitude, the true is that the team showed attitude after scoring the first goal and before Real scored the third. It was a window of ten minutes in which they believed in themselves. Later in the second half, as the goals were arriving, they gave up. Instead it gave the impression that the problem is a lack of aptitude, a problem that starts with the coach and ends with the players. And it’s that the same errors -as it was seen in the previous point about allowing early goals- are happening again and again, and that only shows an inability to correct the problems.

- Lux and Tytoń: Big shadows with the performance of both keepers, truly Lux made key saves, but the point is that he started to make those saves when Real Madrid had already scored twice. He could have made more in the first goal and later a big error by him didn’t end in goal just for the bad definition of Lucas Vázquez. Meanwhile, Tytoń seemed “rusty”. This was his first appearance since the visit to Athletic (February 11) and it was noticed in the sixth goal as he should have blocked the shot by Casemiro.

- Low moment for Arribas and Sidnei: The duo Arribas-Sidnei is no longer a solid couple, and this was the clear picture in this game. Both were constantly surpassed by Isco and Asensio, combined the defensive duo only completed ten clearances in a game in which Depor allowed six goals.

- Another bad game for Çolak: Emre Çolak played a new bad game and Deportivo felt the absence of one of its more talented players. He was the player with more touches at the Galician side (81), but once again failed to give assists that were breaking the lines. He only made two key passes and ended frustrated after been moved to the wing in the second half.

- The fifth worst home defeat for Depor: For the third time in the history Depor lost at the Riazor with a 2-6 score. The previous opportunities were against SD Compostela (1998) and Real Santander (1957). There are only other four defeats that were bigger than this one: the 0-8 with Barcelona on last season, a 2-8 loss with Real Madrid in 2014, a 0-7 defeat with Barcelona in 1956 and a 1-6 loss with Barca in 1957.

- The rally of Joselu against Real Madrid: Real Madrid is now a “client” of Joselu. The Galician striker scored twice at the Bernabéu early and the season and now he scored in this game. He is only the fourth Depor’s player that scores three times against Real Madrid in one single season, the other three were Tino (1950/51), Bebeto (1995/96) and Turu Flores (1998/99).

- Milestones for Juanfran and Navarro: Juanfran Moreno reached the 100 liga games with Deportivo, he became into the 59th player to dispute 100 Primera games wearing the Blanquiazul shirt. Meanwhile, Fernando Navarro will sign a renewal with Depor after playing 45 minutes in this game. His contract stipulates an automatic renewal if he was performing at least for 45 minutes in 19 games on the season (the half of a liga season with 38 matches), and he reached the mark after replacing Kakuta at half-time.
