Pepe Mel is facing problems at the centre of the defence as Sidnei is injured and Albentosa is suspended. RCD Espanyol are also facing problems in defence due to the casualties.

Round 02. After been unable to secure the permanence in Pamplona, Depor return to the Riazor in order to host RCD Espanyol (Sunday, 18h30 CET). Once again a victory is the goal, though the permanence could be secured one day before as Sporting Gijón need to defeat UD Las Palmas in order to stay alive.

Coach Pepe Mel isn’t recovering any of the three men that were injured on last week: centre-back Sidnei Rechel, centre midfielder Pedro Mosquera (both thigh) and striker Joselu (Achilles). Centre-back Raúl Albentosa is also missing the game after picking a fifth yellow card on the season before CA Osasuna.

This means problems at the centre of the defence as Alejandro Arribas is the only natural choice available for the game. Throughout the week Nacho Monsalve from Depor B has been training with the team, but it seems that selected choice will be Fernando Navarro.

The coach has been also testing some novelties in other positions, like a trivote figure at midfield with Álex Bergantiños as a starter and with Ola John having big chances of playing his first game since the kick-off.

At RCD Espanyol, the team arrives to the game without anything at stake, they were dreaming of the chance of entering the European zone, but their latest results left them out of the picture. Coach Quique Sánchez Flores is facing problems due to the casualties hitting his defence.

And its’ that, for the visit to the Riazor, there are four confirmed casualties and all of them are defenders: right-back Javi López (muscle tear), centre-back Óscar Duarte (knee), plus left-backs Rubén Duarte (ankle sprain) and Aarón Martín (suspension).

Meanwhile, midfielder Salva Sevilla didn’t train on Wednesday due to illness, same reason that forced wingers Leo Baptistão and José Antonio Reyes to skip the first two sessions in the week, but the duo should be available for Sunday’s game.
