The poor first half of Depor defined the result, the Galicians improved in the second part after the tactical change, but it wasn’t enough. Debut for Edu Expósito and Andone scored his tenth goal on the season.

The six games from the game against RCD Espanyol:

1- Depor’s two faces: It has happened in several games, Depor showed two very different faces in one single game. In the first half it was an inconsistent team unable to create scoring chances and also to put pressure to a rival that was launching counterattacks at will. In the second half, the pressure was higher on the pitch and therefore RCD Espanyol started to suffer in the output of the ball, the result was to see Depor closer to the goal defended by Diego López and only its well-known lack of punch and bad luck (hitting the woodwork twice) prevented to rescue a point.

2- Three players out of place, one debutant: The main reason for the poorness in the first half was to see three players performing out of their natural positons. Álex Bergantiños had to play as a centre-back, Borges did it as a playmaker and Çolak was the right winger. The sense of discomfort was clear and Depor paid the price. To add to this situation the fact that 20-year-old Edu Expósito was making his debut, it was a matter of time and the big error of Arribas just started the mess.

3- Çolak at the centre, Carles Gil on the right wing: And a simple change modified the whole picture for the second half, because Carles Gil entered the field and pushed Emre Çolak into the centre. The result was to see the Turkish finally appearing in the game (his three shots were made in the second half) and Depor found more space on the wings. The high pressure also helped to force RCD Espanyol to stay at their side of the pitch.

4- Complete game for Ola John: The Dutchman had his first appearance as a starter and he ended as the best player for the home team. He completed three shots, one on target, and made the play of the goal assisting Andone. The only reason why he was replaced was physical exhaustion. John is far for the level offered by Ryan Babel, but at least is a valid choice for a position that’s been cold since Babel left the club.

5- Debut for Edu Expósito: The midfielder made 29 touches, nothing impressive but his 81% of effectiveness with the passes left a positive impression. A choice for the future, but he needs to play surrounded by a more confident environment. The 20-year-old centre midfielder is the 449th player that performs for Depor at the elite.

6- Ten goals for Florin Andone: After a draught of a couple of months, the Romanian has now scored two goals within his last three appearances. This was his tenth goal on the season, he is only the fourth player that nets double digit marks for Depor within the last ten seasons at Primera, the previous three were Lucas Pérez (17), Riki (13) and Diego Tristán (11).
