Final game on the season; the fans are unhappy with the performance of the team. Roef will play his first game with Deportivo. The situation is similar at UD Las Palmas as the fans are sad too.

Deportivo are ending the liga season as the third team will lesser points added in 2017: only 17. Only relegated teams CA Osasuna (15) and Granada CF (11) present a worse mark. Los Blanquiazules have only added 33 points during the season and, if they don’t win in the last game, then it will be the worst mark since the 31 points of the campaign 1991/92, at the time the victories were only awarded with two points.

Meanwhile, UD Las Palmas have allowed 47 goals in 21 games played in 2017, the second worst mark in the league only above CA Osasuna (55). They lost four of the last five games in the competition allowing 19 goals in the process.

These numbers demonstrate the reality of two clubs that have created disappointment among the fans with their latest performance. The Canarians also arrive to the game as the second worst away team in the league, they only added six points in the road and lost 14 of 18 away meetings, their only away success was a 2-4 win in the opening matchday visiting Valencia CF (August 22).

Neither Deportivo are ending the season with a strong record at home, the Galicians are currently the fifth worst local team in the competition with 23 points added in 18 matches disputed at the Riazor. Only CD Leganés (20), Sporting Gijón (18), Granada CF (16) and CA Osasuna (13) have added less.

UD Las Palmas won last season at the Riazor (1-2) with Víctor Sánchez on board, but before they lost six of their previously eight matches played in A Coruña. Between 1988 and 2012 they only scored twice in six visits to Deportivo.

The permanence was achieved on last week and, with players like Juanfran and German Lux ready to leave the club after spending some years in A Coruña, it was expected a warm farewell at the Riazor. But the fans are not exactly happy with the performance of the team, actually the Riazor Blues already announced a protest leaving the pitch at minute 30. So, the last game on the season is not having a happy background, it still to be seen the reaction from the rest of the fans. The only thing at stake is the final position, Depor are currently 17th and to climb one position will mean to add between €300,000 and €400,000.

About the novelties on the pitch, coach Pepe Mel will give the chance to goalkeeper Davy Roef, who hasn’t played any minute since his arrive in the winter window. Right-back Laure is also set to make his fourth appearance on the season. Pedro Mosquera is covering the absence of Celso Borges and the rest is the team that played against Villarreal CF.

Team news: Centre-back Sidnei Rechel returns after missing the last three games due to a thigh injury. Juanfran (knee) and Alejandro Arribas (Achilles) are recovered from their knocks, but only the latter will be a starter. Joselu and Luisinho are the players at the injury room, while Celso Borges and German Lux are suspended. Winger Gaël Kakuta is out for tactical reasons.

Man to watch: Goalkeeper Davy Roef. It hasn’t been a good season for the goalkeepers at Deportivo. Neither Lux nor Tytoń have convinced with his performances and now the Belgian will debut in what promises to be his only game at the club. Roef will be the fourth keeper that performs for Depor as Rubén Martínez played in Copa Del Rey.

Picked players: (18) Tytoń, Davy Roef (goalkeepers); Laure, Juanfran, Arribas, Sidnei, Albentosa, Navarro (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Guilherme, Mosquera, Çolak, Fajr, Bruno Gama, Carles Gil, Ola John (midfielders); Marlos Moreno & Andone (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Roef – Laure, Arribas, Albentosa, Navarro – Mosquera, Guilherme – Carles Gil, Çolak, Ola John – Andone.

The situation at UD Las Palmas is pretty similar to the things seen at Deportivo, the team showed a good performance in the first round and later fell down. The results didn’t allow the suffering witnessed in A Coruña at the moment of securing the permanence, but the fans are also upset with the behavior of the players, something that already occurred in past seasons.

Coach Quique Setién was sawn as a savior, but he already lost his credit and this is his farewell match. It should be also the last game of players like Jesé and the rumors about exits are in everyday papers.  But there are good news too, like the renewal of Kevin-Prince Boateng, who signed a new contract lasting until 2020. He is the top-scorer at the team (10) and is considered as the base for a squad that wants to leave behind the problems and move into more ambitious goals.

Team news: Goalkeeper Javi Varas sustained an ankle knock on Thursday, but Setién confirmed that he will be available for the game. Left-back Dani Castellano (thigh), playmaker Tana (Achilles), centre midfielder Vicente Gómez (muscle) and striker Marko Livaja (suspension) are the men missing the match.

Man to watch: Centre midfielder Roque Mesa. Considered as a one of the best midfielders in la liga for his skills to distribute the game, he has completed 2,111 passes during this season, mark only improved by Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi (2,324).

And his skills aren’t passing unnoticed. Sevilla CF already presented a €8 million offer during the winter window that was rejected, and clubs like Liverpool FC, Everton FC, Tottenham Hotspurs, Valencia CF and Atlético Madrid area also interested. He renewed on this year and the Canarian club will try to retain him.

Picked players: (18) Raúl Lizoain, Javi Varas (goalkeepers); David Simón, Pablo Lemos, David García, Aythami, Pedro Bigas, Hélder Lopes (defenders); Montoro, Momo, Hernán, Roque Mesa, Javi Castellano, Mateo García, Halilović, Jonathan Viera (midfielders); Boateng & Jesé (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Javi Varas – David Simón, Bigas, Aythami, Hélder Lopes – Momo, Roque Mesa, Viera – Mateo García, Boateng, Jesé.
