New victory for Deportivo in the pre-season, this time at A Malata; Çolak scored a brace, while Gerard Valentín and Cartabia shone in the meeting.

Eighth friendly game in the pre-season. Luisinho was back after recovering from an injury, but other five men missed the match as they were dealing with physical problems: Bruno Gama (hip knock), Carles Gil (groin), Florin Andone (knock), Tytoń (quadriceps) and Juan Domínguez (ankle sprain)

The lineup was a 4-2-3-1 figure. Rubén Martínez was the goalkeeper, Gerard Valentín covered the right-back position, the left side in defence was for Luisinho, while Róber and Albentosa were the centre-backs.

Edu Expósito and Celso Borges were the centre midfielders, Bicho was the right winger, Borja Valle attacked from the left flank, Emre Çolak was the playmaker and Bakkali was the centre forward.

Good exam for Deportivo, because Racing Ferrol were a team that tried to move the ball in attack with criterion, something that didn’t happen in the previous seven friendly games. For this reason the rival had presence in attack. Mel was giving instructions from the outside as he wanted to see quick passes instead of long ball possessions, therefore the game turned to be fast and entertaining.

The first goal in the game arrived at minute 10, Gerard Valentín made the play on the right wing, he released a cross that ex-Depor goalie Mackay missed to block and Emre Çolak scored at will.

That play wasn’t an accident, because Gerard Valentín was a dagger throughout the half, always giving problems to the locals with his penetrations by the side and the centre. Then Racing Ferrol was able to tie the game, it was a quick counterattack in which Fran Sota managed to beat Rubén in the one-on-one.

At minute 30, Schär headed out the ball during a corner-kick taken by Çolak. And the second goal for Depor came in the following play, Gerard was fouled at the edge of the area in one of his countless attacks and Çolak scored with a perfect strike during the free-kick.

Bicho could have scored the third at minute 43, but he sent the ball wide after a good cross by Çolak. The Turkish was another player highly active in the game, not only providing the last pass, but also for moving the ball at midfield.

Cartabia replaced Bakkali for the second half, at minute 46, Schär had a new chance to score and once again he headed the ball out after collecting a cross from the right. At minute 53, Borges didn’t arrive in time in order to connect a cross by Borja Valle.

One minute later a combination between Çolak and Cartabia ended in a blocked shot by the Argentine playmaker. Depor continued attacking, now lead by Cartabia, who had the next chance firing from the edge of the area with the ball going over the crossbar (57’).

Navarro was the second substitution replacing Luisinho, then Bicho had the chance to score the third, this after collecting a chipping pass inside the area, but his shot was too easy for Mackay (65’).

Then Deportivo made other six modifications, in the end only Rubén Martinez, Bicho and Borja Valle stayed on the pitch among the starters. The game continued to be dynamic for the last 20 minutes, with Valverde, Bicho and Cartabia been the most active players.

There was time for a couple of more goals, the third arrived after a combination between Bicho, Borja Valle and Cartabia, the ball reached the path of Bicho on the left, he hit the near post and in the rebound Da Lama scored an own goal. Then the fourth goal arrived afterCartabia drilled a pass into the right side of the area and Juanfran scored with a drilling attempt.
