Three more signings and five exits, it’s what Pepe Mel needs in order to have a squad composed by 22 players.

Two weeks are remaining in the pre-season and one full month to close the summer transfer window. Deportivo have made seven signings and at the same time released five players, and more operations are expected in order to fulfill the expectations of coach Pepe Mel.

Without including unexpected signings or exits that can occur and alter the plans, it’s expected that the club will complete three more additions to the first team, while five men should leave the squad. Mel has been pretty clear about the positions that he wants to reinforce: a goalkeeper, a left winger and a striker.

The goalkeeper pretended by Deportivo is Joel Robles, the 27-year-old man is still waiting to rescind his contract with Everton FC. There are no clues about who could be the left winger, while everybody knows that Lucas Pérez is the first option to cover the spot of the striker.

Currently, the agent of Lucas, Miguel Lovelle, is in London trying to hurry the decision on the striker’s future, as he told reporters on Friday, "I’m here to see the Emirates Cup and to be with Lucas. We talked to everyone. Arsenal know we want to go. Deportivo made an offer a week ago. It is a permanent deal and worth more than Nolito’s move to Sevilla."

Days before, Lovelle told to Radio Marca that Deportivo were pushing hard for Lucas Pérez after presenting two offers, the latter reported to be above €9 million, which is the amount that Sevilla CF just paid for Nolito.

About the players leaving, the scenario is easy to be predicted. Although the name isn’t known yet, it’s pretty clear that if Robles signs for Depor, then one of the two goalkeepers at the squad, Tytoń or Rubén Martínez, will end leaving.

The other four names are clear: Juan Dominguez, Borja Valle, Róber and Bicho. In the cases of Juan Dominguez and Borja Valle, the club is analysing the options and it isn’t ruled out the option of rescinding their contracts.

The case of Róber is a little more complex, Levante UD are pushing for a new loan deal, which could include a buyout option, but the club is also pending on the future of Sidnei, who could end up at Sevilla CF. And after the signing of Schär, is even possible that Depor could allow the exit of both, but for now it’s clear that the club hasn’t allowed the exit of Róber as things aren’t clear with Sidnei

Finally, Racing Ferrol are interested in Bicho, but the winger doesn’t want to leave and, actually, it seems probable that he will stay, though performing with Fabril at Segunda B and having the chance to be picked to the first team.

If these three signings and five exits are completed, then Mel will have the wished squad composed by 22 players. That’s what the coach has been targeting: a 22+1 squad with Francis been the third keeper alternating between Fabril and the first team.
