THINKING OF BETIS

15 Sep 2017
Busy week for Deportivo with three games in a frame of eight days; Rubén Martínez and Carles Gil are out for the three meetings, while Mosquera is doubtful

Next week will be busy in la liga; on Saturday, Deportivo visit Real Betis (Benito Villamarín, 18h30 CET), and then there’s a midweek match hosting Deportivo Alavés (Wednesday) and a new visit, this time to RCD Espanyol (Sunday).

It means three games in a frame of eight days, coach Pepe Mel could be making the first rotations of the season. He has 23 players available, so he has enough room to present two different squads if he wants it. At this point the Madrilenian coach only has two confirmed casualties for the first game.

Carles Gil was operated at the beginning of the week (groin). The Valencian will return until Christmas. Meanwhile, Rubén Martínez is training on the pitch, but his thumb injury doesn’t allow him to touch the ball with his right hand. He will return to the collective work until the end of next month.

Pedro Mosquera picked a knock during Wednesday’s session and skipped the last training, and will undergo a late test in order to determine if the midfielder will be available for Saturday. Luisinho skipped the first training on the week due to an ankle knock, but he will be ready for the visit to Betis.

At Real Betis, coach Quique Setíen has two confirmed casualties for the game against Deportivo. Defender Alin Tosca is out for three weeks after suffering a hand fracture during Wednesday’s training. The other casualty is striker Joel Campbell, who hasn’t debuted on this season due to a knee problem.

But midfielder Ryad Boudebouz has surpassed an ankle sprain and could be making his debut against Depor. Also Tony Sanabria could be available, the Paraguayan striker suffered a knee knock in the game against Villarreal CF, then he skipped a training session, but it seems he will be fit for Saturday.  Sanabria has scored three goals in five meetings against Depor, including a brace when he was playing at Sporting Gijón (Sept 20, 2015).
