Depor collected €38.692 for charity in a game that had six goals in the second half. Albentosa and Borja Valle scored twice.

This game was played for the XIX edition of the Moncho Rivera memorial, a charity tournament organized for the benefit of the A Coruña Food Bank (€38.692 were collected). Coach Pepe Mel chose a squad composed by three Fabril’s players plus nine men that weren’t starters against Getafe CF. Francis, Edu Expósito and Óscar García were the Fabril’s players starting in the game.

The rival was Brazilian club Corinthians, the Timão is the current leader at the Brazilian Serie A after only losing 3 of the 26 games disputed in the competition. The team  coached by Fábio Carille used substitutes and academy players for the game, top-scorer João Alves, who has netted 13 goals in Serie A, and former Arsenal attacker Colin Kazim-Richards didn’t even make the trip to A Coruña.

The game was open in the first part, Depor had the ball possession and had several chances to score in the first half, but Corinthians was the side that created the first chance. Carlinhos get in the middle of the defence and had a one-one-one chance before Francis, and the keeper made the save (8’).

Depor responded with a wide shot from Bakkali (9’) and the game entered into a pause of twenty minutes without excitement, then things got exciting again. Çolak hit the crossbar with a volley from the edge of the area (29’) and Bakkali missed the target from close range (33’). 

One minute later Carlinhos had a new chance for Corinthians, this time missing the target from long-range after stealing the ball at midfield. And the first goal arrived before the break, Óscar García collected a loose ball inside the area and scored.

The second half started without changes, but with Deportivo scoring six times before a rival that lost the concentration of the first part. The second goal came in a corner-kick in which Raúl Albentosa controlled the ball inside the area to end netting for the Galicians. The second goal affected Corinthians and Depor unleashed the party with two consecutive goals.

First visiting goalie Felipe didn’t clear properly a shot from Borja Valle and the striker collected the loose ball to net the third goal. Two minutes later, Edu Expósito collected the ball at the edge of the area and released a strong shot into the top corner of the goal.

The teams were uninterested in the following minutes, Depor were still having the ball, but barely attacked before a rival that was already defeated. Then the locals pressed again and the fifth goal arrived in a solo-play of Borja Valle, the striker eluded a rival and scored with a volley from the edge of the area.

Twenty minutes before the final whistle, Mel moved the bench and seven substitutions were made. Juanfran, Sidnei, Guilherme, Carlos López, Saúl García, Cartabia and Luisinho entered the field.

A sixth goal arrived after Luisinho headed a cross from the left. Juvenil A keeper Pablo Brea was the last substitution for Depor and the game ended with the second goal from Albentosa, this time heading a cross from the left released by Luisinho.
