Deportivo start the most difficult part of the calendar with Parralo recovering Arribas and Andone. Sevilla CF arrive after coming back twice in the scoresheet within their last three official games.

Referee: José María Sánchez Martínez
Kick-off: 18h30 CET (Sánchez Pizjuán)

Sevilla CF is one of the three teams in liga that haven’t lost yet playing at home, so far the Andalusians have faced seven matches at the Sánchez Pizjuán and picked five victories and two draws, actually Los Rojiblancos are about to complete a full year without losing at their stadium. Their last defeat at home in an official competition was against Juventus FC for the UEFA Champions League (1-3, November 22)

Meanwhile, Depor are trying to chain three straight official games without losing, something they don’t achieve since March, just with the arrival of Pepe Mel (1-1 Vs. Atlético, 1-0 at Sporting, 1-1 Vs. Betis & 2-1 Vs. Barcelona). The Galicians are arriving to this game after a draw in liga against Athletic (2-2) and a victory in Copa at Las Palmas (3-2).

Taking in mind the current run of Sevilla CF, it’s definitely a tough visit for the Blanquiazul outfit, but they managed to get points in their last two visits there (1-1 & 0-0) and have only lost in two of their last six liga visits to the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.

The most difficult part of the calendar is about to start for Deportivo, six games are remaining in the first round and four of them are against the top-six places, and everything starts with the visit to current fifth place Sevilla CF. And with the distance with relegation reduced to five points, the Galicians must scratch points if they don’t want to start the second round in a difficult position.

The good news is that coach Cristóbal Parralo is recovering players despite the team is ending a busy week with three games played in a frame of six days. For the Copa game at UD Las Palmas, the coach had picked five players from Fabril due to the casualties, now all of them are back at the B squad.

Team news: Guilherme returns from suspension, while Sidnei (muscle) and Fabian Schär (nasal contusion) passed a late test on Friday, both centre-backs are expected to start the game. Florin Andone and Alejandro Arribas are also back after their internal suspension.

Meanwhile, Costel Pantilimon suffered a ribs sprain in the Copa game with Las Palmas and joins Bakkali, Luisinho and Bruno Gama at the injury room. Borja Valle is on the roster after scoring twice in Copa and leaving a good impression on the pitch. The players out for tactical reasons are Raúl Albentosa, Saúl Fernández and Gerard Valentín.

Man to watch: Striker Adrian López. He surprised against Athletic with a goal and an assist despite coming from an injury that sidelined him for a month. Even Parralo admitted that he wasn’t expecting for that freshness. The Asturian already scored twice against Sevilla CF, one of those goals with Depor visiting Sevilla CF for the liga campaign 2009/10 (1-1 draw, March 13, 2010).

Picked players: (18) Tytoń, Rubén Martínez (goalkeepers); Juanfran, Arribas, Sidnei, Schär, Navarro (defenders); Fede Valverde, Borges, Guilherme, Pedro Mosquera, Çolak, Carles Gil, Fede Cartabia, (midfielders); Adrián, Lucas Pérez, Andone & Borja Valle (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Rubén Martínez – Juanfran, Schär, Sidnei, Navarro – Guilherme, Valverde, Borges – Cartabia, Lucas, Adrián.

The fans of Sevilla CF cannot complain of boredom during this season, the team is leaving several doubts on the pitch, but in the end the Andalusians always achieve the results, reason why they are in the fight for the top positions in liga and at the same time are about to achieve the pass to the knock-out stage in the Champions League.

And a clear example is what happened on last week, the team was losing 0-3 at half-time of a crucial meeting with Liverpool FC and ended clinching a meritorious 3-3 draw. Then, on last weekend, they were losing 0-2 at Villarreal CF by minute 53, and then scored three goals to end defeating a direct rival (2-3). And all of this when the club is searching for a striker in the winter market as the team lacks goal (17 goals in favour, the second lowest among the top ten places and exactly the same number of goals scored by Depor).

And to make the rollercoaster even more dramatic, at the beginning of last week it was known that coach Eduardo Berizzo has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He underwent successful surgery on Tuesday and the man that will be sat on the bench is his assistant, Ernesto Marcucci.

Team news: Left-back Sergio Escudero surpassed a knock and goes directly into the starting formation, but there are problems at the centre of the defence as three men are out injured: Daniel Carriço (muscle) and Nico Pareja (groin) and Simon Kjaer (knock).

Man to watch: Playmaker Éver Banega. The Argentine man is the motor of the team as he is the offensive player with the better passing ratio at the squad (88%), and most recently is having an impact in the scores, because in his last five official games with the team he scored twice and also provided five assists.

Picked players: (18) Sergio Rico, David Soria (goalkeepers); Sébastien Corchia, Clément Lenglet, Sergio Escudero, Gabriel Mercado (defenders); Michael Krohn-Dehli, Banega, Johannes Geis, Guido Pizarro, Jesús Navas, Pablo Sarabia, Paulo Ganso, Joaquín Correa, Franco Vázquez (midfielders);Wissam Ben Yedder, Luis Muriel & Nolito (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Rico – Mercado, Lenglet, Geis, Escudero – Banega, Pizarro, Vázquez – Sarabia, Muriel, Correa.
