Important game for Deportivo, Parralo loses Cartabia and Carles Gil steps in to fill up the gap. The rival is the team with the fewer number of goals in their games.

Referee: Mario Melero López
Kick-off: 18h30 CET (Riazor)

The main surprise so far in la liga is CD Leganés, a team that’s currently fighting to enter into the European zone despite only been completing their second season at the elite. The Madrilenians present a solid defence after only allowing 13 goals in 14 matchdays; it’s the fourth best record in la liga only below FC Barcelona (7), Atlético Madrid (7) and Real Madrid (11). Meanwhile, Deportivo already allowed 27 goals in the same period, this is the fourth worst mark at Primera División, only above Real Betis (28), Málaga CF (28) and UD Las Palmas (32).

Things change at the opposite goal, because CD Leganés have only scored 12 goals, the fifth worst mark in the competition only above UD Las Palmas (11), Málaga CF (11), RCD Espanyol (11) and Alavés (10). Even Deportivo have scored more times (17) despite having eight points less.

CD Leganés are the seventh best visiting team in liga, this after winning three of their seven games on the road. They already defeated RCD Espanyol (0-1), UD Las Palmas (0-2) and Málaga CF (0-2). Meanwhile, Depor are the third worst local team in the competition, this after only adding 7 points in 7 games at the Riazor, mark only above UD Las Palmas (6) and Alavés (3).

This is the third official meeting with Alavés playing at the elite, the previous two took place last season and were won by the Madrilenians. The 4-0 loss at Butarque (February 25) meant the exit of former coach Gaizka Garitano.

Depor were hammered during the week with the news that Fede Cartabia will be on the sidelines for two or three months as he needs surgery in order to fix a groin injury that has been affecting him. The Argentine has been the most in-form player of a team struggling to survive in la liga, but luckily coach Cristóbal Parralo is recovering another man with the same profile: Carles Gil.

The Valencian returned to Depor in a new loan deal with Aston Villa FC, and also spent some time out after needing groin surgery. He just retuned in November and already completed 18 minutes in the last two league games with Athletic Club and Sevilla CF. Now he will be a starter.

During the week, Parralo has been tested in switching the draw into a 4-2-3-1 figure, with Carles Gil replacing Cartabia (who is also suspended for the match) and also with the return of Emre Çolak into the playmaking function.

Team news: Winger Zakaria Bakkali has surpassed a muscle injury and is available for the game. The players at the injury room are Fede Cartabia, Luisinho and Bruno Gama. Centre-back is close to be transferred to Pumas and is traveling to Mexico, while the players out for tactical reasons are Tytoń, Gerard Valentín and Saúl García.

Man to watch: Emre Çolak. The Turkish has had a disappointing start to the season; he hasn’t had an impact in the games and Parralo has only used him twice (18 minutes at Málaga CF and 8 minutes against Sevilla CF). Now he has the chance of redemption in front of the fans been a starter in a very important game for Deportivo.

Picked players: (18) Rubén Martínez, Pantilimon (goalkeepers); Juanfran, Albentosa, Sidnei, Schär, Navarro (defenders); Fede Valverde, Borges, Guilherme, Pedro Mosquera, Çolak, Bakkali, Carles Gil (midfielders); Adrián, Lucas Pérez, Andone & Borja Valle (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Rubén Martínez – Juanfran, Schär, Sidnei, Navarro – Guilherme, Borges – Carles Gil, Çolak, Adrián – Lucas Pérez.

CD Leganés represent the team in which lesser goals are witnessed during their liga meetings, truly the Madrilenians are the fourth best defence at Primera with only 13 goals allowed so far, but later they have only scored 12, which is the fifth lowest mark in the league. So, only 25 goals have been witnessed in their 14 games.

It clearly explains the philosophy of a coach like Asier Garitano, a trainer that likes to block the road to their goal putting a high pressure and defending the spaces instead of marking depending of the rival’s status. It has been the main reason why they had only conceded 10.9 shots per game, the fourth best average in the league; later they lack a top-scorer, reason why they suffer to score goals.

Team news: Midfielder Darko Brašanac and centre-back Dimitrios Siovas are both out due to a stress fracture problem, while left winger Omar Ramos is out until 2018 after suffering several muscle injuries is this start of season.

Man to watch: Winger Nordin Amrabat. The Moroccan had problems adapting after his arrival from Watford, and recently was off injured, but is a talented player that can perform at any position in attack. He returned for the previous visit to Villarreal CF and in only 22 minutes he provided two assists that allowed a refreshing 1-3 victory at Estadio de La Cerámica.

Picked players: (18) Cuéllar, Nereo Champagne (goalkeepers); Tito, Bustinza, Raúl García, Diego Rico, Mauro dos Santos, Ezequiel Muñoz, Zaldua (defenders); Erik Morán, Gumbau, Gabriel Pires, Javier Eraso, Rubén Pérez, Amrabat (midfielders); Claudio Beauvue, Alexander Szymanowski & El Zhar (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Iván Cuéllar – Zaldua, Bustinza, Raúl García, Rico – Erazo, Rubén Pérez, Pires – Amrabat, El Zahar, Beauvue.
