MATCHDAY 23: FIGHT AT THE TOP

FC Barcelona dropped points for the second straight matchday and suddenly the fight for the title is more open. Depor remain in a black hole and are already penultimate.

Unexpectedly FC Barcelona dropped two points in a goalless draw hosting Getafe CF, it’s the second straight draw for the Catalans and now the difference with second place Atlético Madrid is only of seven points, this after the Madrilenians seized an early goal to defeat Málaga CF on the road (0-1).

Valencia CF returned to winning ways and clinched the three points in a controversial match hosting Levante UD (3-1), while Real Madrid remain fourth after trashing Real Sociedad at the Bernabéu (5-2). Villarreal CF remain fallen and this time the Valencians were surprised by Alavés at home (1-2).

But the yellow submarine remains fifth despite Sevilla CF got a suffered victory over Girona FC (1-0). At the same time, SD Eibar are closer to Europe thanks to their 0-1 victory at CD Leganés. RC Celta missed a great chance to approach to the first places, because the Galicians dropped two points at the end of the game hosting RCD Espanyol (2-2).

MATCHDAY 24: TRICKY GAMES FOR THE LEADERS
Leaders FC Barcelona visit a SD Eibar that have only lost one of the last ten games in the competition, while runners-up Atlético Madrid host an Athletic Club that have the exact same record, though the Basques can include a game in the Europa League to extend the record to one defeat in eleven official games.

A desperate Depor visit an Alavés that have won two straight meetings and that’s about to be out of reach for the Galicians. The matchday is completed with other seven games: Girona FC Vs. CD Leganés; UD Las Palmas Vs. Sevilla CF; Málaga CF Vs. Valencia CF; Real Sociedad Vs. Levante UD; RCD Espanyol Vs. Villarreal CF; Real Betis Vs. Real Madrid & Getafe CF Vs. RC Celta.
