Depor need the victory visiting a direct rival. Seedorf wants unity before an Alavés that has reacted with the arrival of Abelardo.

Referee: Mario Melero López
Kick-off: 18h30 CET (Mendizorroza)

Deportivo remain as one of the three clubs in la liga that haven’t won yet in 2018. The other two teams are Málaga CF and Levante UD, precisely the trio represents the group of teams that are fighting with UD Las Palmas in order to avoid demotion.

These poor starts in a year are now common at Deportivo, and it’s that in both 2016 and 2017 Depor lasted in clinching the first victory, in both years the team was able to win until March. Meanwhile, Deportivo Alavés is the eighth best team in the period after adding ten points within the last six games.

A stat that’s demolishing Deportivo is the number of goals allowed: 52. That’s the worst mark on this century for a Primera team after 23 matchdays tied with Rayo Vallecano (52). 29% of those 52 goals have been allowed within the last four matchdays. Totally Depor have only achieved three clean sheets on this season.

Deportivo have only clinched 3 victories after 25 visits to Alavés playing for a league competition, but the Galicians picked 4 positive results in their last 5 visits to Mendizorroza, the last two draws 1-1 (2013/14) and 0-0 (2016/17).

Clarence Seedorf is aware of the difficulty of the task, and for him the best way to face it is with a united team, inside and outside the pitch. Inside as he has always insisted that the players must defend and attack together, outside he travels to Vitoria with the 21 men that were available.

The Dutch coach is also content with the performance against Betis, despite the defeat he liked to witness an “ordered” team and now plans to repeat the squad, with the only novelty of Guilherme replacing injured Fede Valverde.

Team news: Raúl Albentosa left the last training before it ended, some journalists thought that he was injured, but the coach confirmed that he left as there was nothing more for him to do on the pitch. Seedorf picked the 21 players available for the meeting, the three men at the injury room are Kóval Sidnei and Fede Valverde.

Man to watch: Striker Florin Andone. Deportivo need goals and arrive to the game after been left scoreless in the previous two meetings. With all the players in a downward spiral, the Romanian is the one that remains fit. He didn’t have a good game before Betis, but scored 4 goals in his previous 5 liga presentations.

Picked players: (21) Rubén Martínez, Tytoń (goalkeepers); Juanfran, Gerard Valentín, Bóveda, Albentosa, Schär, Luisinho, Navarro (defenders); Mosquera, Guilherme, Borges, Krohn-Dehli, Çolak, Bakkali, Cartabia, Carles Gil (midfielders); Adrián, Lucas Pérez, Andone & Borja Valle (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Rubén Martínez - Juanfran, Albentosa, Bóveda, Luisinho - Guilherme, Krohn-Dehli - Lucas, Adrián, Bakkali - Andone.

Deportivo Alavés seemed as one of the main candidates to demotion, by matchday 13 they already had three coaches, then De Biasi was fired and Abelardo Fernández arrived. With him on board, the team added 19 of the last 30 points in dispute, now the Basques are seven points above demotion.

The formula was to simply put the players in their normal positions and wait for the results. It also helped the arrival of winter signings, two reinforcements that upgraded the level of the team: John Guidetti and Hernán Pérez.

Team news: There are two casualties for the game; left-back Héctor Hernández has been out with a knee injury for a while. Centre-back Carlos Vigaray is not recovered from a knee knock and is missing the match.

Man to watch: Attacker Munir El Haddadi. The arrival of John Guidetti has revitalized the attacking line, which is now converted into a trident with the presence of Ibai Gomez and Munir, and the latter is the one that has presented the better number in recent games. The ex-Barcelona has scored five goals and provided two assists in his last ten official games with the team (seven in liga and three in Copa).

Picked players: The roster will be released until Saturday

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Pacheco – Aguirregabiria, Ely, Laguardia. Duarte – Ibai Gómez, Manu García, Pina, Pedraza – Munir, Guidetti.
