Levante UD added a crucial win that could be determinant in the quest for the permanence. Meanwhile, life continued the same with the first places.

The first four places won their games and life continued the same at the top of the standings. FC Barcelona didn’t need Messi to defeat last-place Málaga CF (0-2), while Atlético Madrid dispatched RC Celta (3-0). Real Madrid suffered a little more as Los Blancos had to wait until the final ten minutes in order to clinch a 1-2 win at SD Eibar.

Valencia CF clinched a huge victory visiting Sevilla CF (0-2), now the difference between the fourth and the fifth place is eleven points and it’s already clear who will be the four teams qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League.

What still open is the battle for the Europa League spots. There are nine teams separated by ten points and everything will be decided within the final ten matchdays. Villarreal CF kept the sixth spot after returning to winning ways at UD Ls Palmas (0-2).

Girona FC chained a third straight victory and remain seventh, they defeated a lost Deportivo (2-0) and are only one point below the European zone. Real Betis added a new victory, this time visiting Alavés (1-3) and are now eighth. Meanwhile, Athletic Club beat CD Leganés (2-0) and remain aspiring to a European spot. It’s the same scenario for RCD Espanyol after a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad.

Paco López debuted with Levante UD and it was a huge win at Getafe CF (0-1), it cut their winless streak coming from 2017 and turned to be a perfect weekend for them as both UD Las Palmas and Depor lost. Meanwhile, Málaga CF are already eleven points under safety and seems to be condemned.

Last call for both Deportivo and UD Las Palmas, the Canarians visit the Riazor in a game in which only the three points are useful for these teams.
