REACTIONS TO THE VICTORY AT SAN MAMÉS

16 Apr 2018
Depor’s coach was very happy and said that the first goal was the key to the victory, both scorers in the game also talked to journalists.

Clarence Seedorf was saying that the first goal was key as it arrived early, “The players showed a great personality, in the first half and the whole game, because there was a great rival that showed the muscles, but we held on. We tried to press since the start, because sometimes it’s hard for us to enter. It was key to score so early, a quick goal helps a lot.”

He didn’t want to say if this victory can end turning on the fans towards the last stretch in liga, “I cannot speak for the fans, all of them have suffered, in the inside and outside, so I believe the three points are dedicated to them.”

The Dutchman was explaining the changes of Adrián at half-time and Çolak in the second half, “I don’t know what Adrián has, but he suffered a knock in the foot, so he couldn’t continue. About Çolak, it was a tactical change.”

He was also praising the performance of Borja Valle, “He is super happy. He is one of the lads that had little time in the games, but he has made a great joy. He is committed with the group and in the end he gave the three points to the team. I am happy with him, because the professionals are always there for the group.”

Depor’s coach also confessed that he suffered within the last minutes, “I don’t live with fears, but I told my players that I don’t have grey hair, but it they continue like this then it could change soon [he laughed] Surely things were tense in the end, but the issue is to have the aids. We have respect for the rival and we are returning home with three golden points.”

He said to not be worried with the heavy calendar, “All the teams are having the same calendar. Let’s see how we recover in the coming days, knowing that I count with a group that has demonstrated things. Whoever enters he brings something important.”

Finally, Seedorf was saying that Athletic played a good game, “They had a strong start, the only thing is that our first attack ended in an early goal, but we saw that they reacted in the second half, so we need to give merits to Depor for doing a great game in the first part.”

Borja Valle scored a goal at Primera for the first time, he was happy for it, “The true is that I wished to live this moment. I am really happy for scoring my first goal at Primera División, and the important thing is that it’s helpful to approach the goal and we can continue fighting. So, I am very happy.”

About the suffering in the game, the Cantabrian commented that, “We scored the goals too early and we knew they were going to press at their stadium. We met the 2-1 and the 3-1, then the second goal from them. They pressed a lot, but it’s better to win like this. There was anguish and suffering, but it makes us stronger in order to keep fighting for the goal.”

Adrián López scored a brace for the second straight time, he was also happy, “I am enchanted to see the team winning again. We wanted to chain straight victories. For now, we have two and now need to seek for a third. I am hay for scoring, especially because it helped to add the three points. It was a complicate place, Bilbao is strong at home and pressed in the second half, but the team has added three points that make us stronger.”

About the injury that forced his exit at half-time, he said that, “I don’t know what it is, it was a knock. The only problem is the inflammation. I couldn’t stand. It was at the beginning of the game, at half-time I couldn’t walk and I hope it’s only a knock.”

At Athletic Club, José Ángel Ziganda was feeling sorry for the impression left by his team, “We have showed a double face in only one week. We had the intention to confirm what we exposed in the previous two games, but today it was too large, with more heart than head and with two quick goals that penalized us a lot. It is a hard hit, but the year hasn’t been easy and neither good.”
