PREVIEW: DEPORTIVO – SEVILLA (LIGA)

17 Apr 2018
New final for Depor, the fans start to believe and Seedorf makes one change at the lineup. Adrián will be a starter. Sevilla CF are making rotations as they play the final in Copa this Saturday.

Referee: David Medié Jiménez
Kick-off: 19h30 CET (Riazor)

STATISTICS: TWELVE GAMES WITHOUT A WIN OVER SEVILLA CF
Deportivo already spent twelve league games without defeating Sevilla CF. The last win over the Andalusians took place during the campaign 2009/10, it was a 1-0 result played at the Riazor with a goal scored by Juan Rodriguez (October 17, 2009).

Sevilla CF arrive to the meeting thinking of Copa Del Rey, they will qualify to the Europa League if they beat FC Barcelona in the final, or instead if they end seventh -their current position- The Andalusians are the seventh best visiting team in the league, but it isn’t an impressive number as they lost in 10 of their 16 visits, the key is that they won the remaining 6 away matches.

Meanwhile, Deportivo arrive with the idea that the permanence is still possible. They defeated Málaga CF in their previous home game (3-2) and search for back-to-back wins at the Riazor for the first time since December 2016 (5-1 Vs. Real Sociedad and 2-0 s. CA Osasuna). It will also mean a third straight win at Primera, something that doesn’t happen since March-April 2013.

DEPORTIVO: GAINING HOPE
The last two results have revived the flame of hope among the fans. The general consensus is that the permanence remains improbable, but at least the team is trying and the fans are ready to support them. The club decided to give an extra free ticket to each socio in the attempt to fill a stadium that will have a good attendance despite the hour and the day of the game.

Coach Clarence Seedorf tested on Monday a modification at the lineup that defeated Athletic Club at San Mamés, it’s the presence of Guilherme, who is returning from suspension. claiming the spot of Emre Çolak.

Team news: Adrián surpassed the knock that he suffered against Athletic and is expected to start. Guilherme returns from suspension. Fede Cartabia is already training with the team, but hasn’t received the medical okay to play. So, the Argentine stays at the injury room alongside Sulleyman Muntari, Sidnei and Eneko Bóveda. The players out for tactical reasons are Tytoń, Gerard Valentín and Carles Gil.

Man to watch: Striker Adrián López. The Asturian is now the top-scorer at Deportivo after netting two consecutive braces. He surpassed a knock and is ready to lead an attacking line that has scored six goals in two matchdays.

Picked players: (18) Rubén Martínez, Kóval (goalkeepers); Juanfran, Schär, Albentosa, Luisinho, Navarro (defenders); Mosquera, Fede Valverde, Borges, Krohn-Dehli, Çolak, Bakkali (midfielders); Adrián, Lucas Pérez, Andone & Borja Valle (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Rubén Martínez - Juanfran, Albentosa, Schär, Luisinho - Krohn-Dehli, Guilherme, Mosquera, Borges - Lucas, Adrián.

SEVILLA: FOCUSED IN COPA
It’s a weird week in Seville, Los Rojiblancos play the final in Copa Del Rey on Saturday facing FC FC Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium, and La Liga decided to schedule a double matchday in the middle. Both Sevilla CF and FC Barcelona are delaying their meetings of the weekend, but have to play in midweek.

So, coach Vincenzo Montella is surely making changes at the lineup as his side will only have four days for to rest. Actually, he picked the whole available squad for the trip to A Coruńa as later they will make a concentration stage in Marbella.

Team news: Striker Ben Yedder is suspended after been sent off in the past game with Villarreal CF. The rest of the squad was picked as they will go directly in order to prepare the final in Copa against FC Barcelona, Sevilla B attacker Carlos Fernández was picked for the game and is expected to start.

Man to watch: Striker Manuel Agudo ‘Nolito’. It has been an inconsistent season for the Andalusian attacker, going in and out of the lineups, he lost a starting role recently before Muriel and now he has a big chance as Montella is making rotations. In the first round game he was crucial as he gave both assists to see his Sevilla CF prevailing over Deportivo (2-0).

Picked players: (23) Sergio Rico, David Soria (goalkeepers); Corchia, Layún, Lenglet, Carriço, Guilherme Arana, Nicolás Pareja, Gabriel Mercado (defenders); Roque Mesa, Banega,  Johannes Geis, Guido Pizarro, Steven N’zonzi, Jesús Navas, Sarabia, Escudero, Franco Vázquez (midfielders) Correa, Muriel, Sandro, Nolito & Carlos Fernández (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) David Soria – Layún, Mercado, Carriço, Arana – N’zonzi, Pizarro, Roque Mesa - Correa, Nolito, Carlos Fernández.
