Two matchdays are remaining and the only thing still to be confirmed is two of the three clubs that will qualify for the Europa League. Valencia CF are in Champions League.

The main news during the weekend is that Valencia CF have qualified for the Champions League. Los Ches lost visiting Villarreal CF (1-0), but the defeat of Real Betis visiting Athletic Club (2-0) secured their return to the main tournament in Europe after a three-year absence.

Atlético Madrid surprisingly lost hosting RCD Espanyol (0-2) and Los Rojiblancos haven’t secured the second spot. They are three points behind a Real Madrid that got a draw visiting champions FC Barcelona (2-2).

The real excitement now is who will qualify for the Europa League. Real Betis already secured their place, so there are two slots available. Villarreal CF and Getafe CF are leading the race, the latter defeated UD Las Palmas on the road (0-1).

The other three teams with good chances are Sevilla CF, Girona FC and SD Eibar. The Andalusians suffered, but defeated Real Sociedad (1-0). They have a pending game due to the final in Copa, so they will secure a spot in Europe if they win their remaining three games. Meanwhile, Girona FC lost hosting SD Eibar (1-4) and both sides remain with chances.

With the relegation defined on the previous weekend, now what was known is that Deportivo will end 18th.
