NOTES FROM THE GAME VS VILLARREAL

14 May 2018
Deportivo ended the season at home with a disastrous game in defence, Borja Valle is seizing his appearances in the last games, while Luisinho had a record of touches.

The seven notes from the game Vs. Villarreal CF:

1- Weird game: The final score is not surprising taking in mind the number of goal opportunities (20 between both teams). The weird thing came with how the goals were coming for both sides, Surely Depor deserved to be trailing by half-time, but a three-goal difference at the end of the first half was too much taking in mind that Depor also had its opportunities before a soft defence by Villarreal CF. And nothing changed in the second half to say that Deportivo ďreactedĒ, it was just that Borja Valle seized its opportunities to end having a tighter game of what could be expected after the first 45 minutes.

2- Losing by three goals at half-time: This was just the sixth opportunity with Deportivo trailing at half-time a Primera game with a three-goal difference, and itís the second on this century. The previous case was the 2-8 defeat against Real Madrid for the campaign 2013/14 (0-3 at half-time).

3- The key: static defence: New poor presentation of a defensive line that has shown its well-known miseries. The four goals had a thing in common: to not know how to defend an offensive line thatís moving. And itís that the all that Villarreal needed to do was to see an attacker breaking the lines, then the defence got distracted and by the time they wanted to react, it was too late as a second man was already unmarked and waiting for the ball to score at will. It was the same picture not only in the goals, but in other clear chances wasted by the Yellow Submarine.

Itís also true that Seedorf had problems to present a lineup as both Sidnei and Schšr were out, so Fernando Navarro had to join Albentosa at the central positions, while youngster Mujaid was playing as a right-back when he is more used to perform as a centre-back.

4- Third worst mark of goals allowed: 74 With these four goals allowed, Depor return to be the worst defence in la liga: 74 goals allowed. Only in two previous opportunities the Blanquiazul team allowed more: 80 during the season 1955/56 and 78 on the campaign 1952/53.

5- Great ending for Borja Valle Finally Borja Valle is finding the minutes that he didnít have with Pepe Mel and Parralo. This was just his second appearance as a starter and already scored 3 goals in 385 minutes in la liga, without doubt the most productive player at the squad.

6- Record of touches for Luisinho: It wasnít a good game by Luisinho, he failed in two of the four goals as he didnít follow his marks, but he established a mark: 121 touches in the game. Itís the first player that surpass the 100 touches on this campaign, and he did it having a decent passing accuracy (91%).

7- Debut for Mujaid Sadick: Mujaid is an 18-year-old centre-back that has also played as a right-back with Fabril. He plays for Juvenil A and made his debut with both, the first team and Fabril, in the same season. The LogroŮo-born defender is the third academy player that debuts on this season (the others were Francis and Steve One) and the 464th men that plays for Deportivo at Primera Divisiůn.
