MATCHDAY 37: IT’S OVER

Everything was decided in la liga when one matchday remains, because the Europa League seats are already covered. It’s was the matchday with more goals on the season, the one that saw the first defeat of FC Barcelona.

42 goals were scored in matchday 37, it’s not only the biggest of the season, but also the biggest of all the top-five European leagues during the whole campaign. The rain of goals was possible as 5 of the 20 teams scored at least 4 goals.

The matchday saw the confirmation of the three clubs that will play the next edition of the Europa League. Villarreal CF qualified with a 2-4 win visiting Deportivo, it was one of the two crazy games in this matchday. The Yellow Submarine was winning 0-3 at half-time and Depor caressed the equalizer at the final minutes.

The other two clubs that qualified for Europeans second biggest tournament are Sevilla CF and Real Betis, sides that equalized 2-2 at the Sánchez Pizjuán. The definition of the European places was also possible as Getafe CF lost hosting Atlético Madrid (0-1), Los Azulones failed their fourth penalty on the season (eight whistled to them)./font>

The second crazy game on this matchday was the 5-4 win of Levante UD hosting FC Barcelona, the Catalans lost for the first time on the season after been trailing 5-1 early in the second part. Real Madrid had no problem dispatching RC Celta (6-0).

Real Sociedad and CD Leganés starred in another attractive game with the Basques winning 3-2, Athletic Club continued with their bad run and fell 3-1 visiting Alavés. Valencia CF will end third and in this matchday they beat Girona FC on the road (0-1), while last-place Málaga CF was trashed by RCD Espanyol (4-1).

MATCHDAY 38: BORING
For the first time since the first season of la liga there’s nothing at stake for the last matchday. Some clubs might change their position, but it won’t affect the European spots and neither the battle for the permanence. Champions FC Barcelona entertain Real Sociedad, while Deportivo play their last game at Primera visiting Valencia CF.

The matchday is completed with other eight games: RC Celta Vs. Levante UD; CD Leganés Vs. Real Betis; UD Las Palmas Vs. Girona FC; Málaga CF Vs. Getafe CF; Sevilla CF Vs. Alavés; Villarreal CF Vs. Real Madrid; Athletic Club Vs. RCD Espanyol &Atlético Madrid Vs. SD Eibar.
