MONEY FROM THE WORLD CUP

05 Jul 2018
Six players related to Depor played the World Cup, two of them passed to the knockout stage. In the end the club is collecting €929,767 with them.

Russia 2018 has meant almost a million euros to Deportivo. Five players that were under contract in June, plus one that left A Coruña during last summer, are reporting an income as part of FIFA’s club benefits programme.

The total is €929,767 with Celso Borges leading the account with €204,988. The centre midfielder didn’t pass the group stage with Costa Rica, but left more money as he has spent the last two years with Depor, the period of time used in the calculation and that covered the qualification stage and the final tournament.

He was followed by Krohn-Dehli (€156,181) and Fabian Schär (€165,943), duo that passed to the knockout stage with Denmark and Switzerland. Two Fabril’s players also contributed to this: Francis Uzoho (€197,667) and Ismael Díaz (€141,539), while Fayçal Fajr left €63,449 for a year at Depor (2016-2017).
