The club announced on Friday that Francis Uzoho has been loaned to Elche CF, it was also announced that the Nigerian keeper has signed a contract extension lasting until 2021.

Francis Uzoho will play loaned at Segunda club Elche CF during the season 2018/19.  Before making the announcement the club also informed that the keeper has signed a contract extension lasting until 2021. The player and the club already had a deal lasting until that year, so the announced renewal is an improvement in terms of wages as now he is tied with a professional contract.

Uzoho made a decent World Cup with Nigeria and was aspiring to earn a spot at Depor’s first team, but Carmelo Del Pozo wanted two other keepers as Francis was going to miss several games due to the African Cup of Nations.

Now the Nigerian goalie will compete with former CD Lugo José Juan for the starting spot. The exit of the keeper leaves a slot at Fabril as Álex Cobo is now the only keeper at the B team. It’s still to be known if the club will sign a replacement or if instead a lad from Juvenil A is going to be promoted.
